Israel police parade cuffed teenager to protesters

JERUSALEM (AFP) -- Israeli police paraded a cuffed Palestinian teenager to protesters in what a human rights group charged Saturday was abuse of a "human shield" but an Israeli spokesman said was a move to calm violence.

Defense for Children International-Palestine posted a 76-second video clip on YouTube showing helmeted border policemen removing a young Palestinian it identified as "Muhammad R,17," from their armored jeep and forcing him to stand beside them, cuffed hands raised above his head.

"We're outraged that Israeli soldiers continue to use Palestinian children as human shields with impunity," Ayed Abu Eqtaish of DCI-Palestine said in a statement.

"The teen in this case was deliberately exposed to danger after he had been taken into custody. Israeli authorities must conduct a prompt, transparent and impartial investigation and hold the perpetrators accountable."

The incident reportedly took place on Friday in Abu Dis, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Israeli-annexed East Jerusalem.

Israeli border police spokesman Shai Hachimi said the officer in charge put the prisoner on view to prove that he was unharmed.

He said it was an attempt to calm tempers after 400 Palestinian protesters, some of them throwing rocks and petrol bombs, attacked a border police base for almost four hours.

"One of the main stone-throwers was arrested," Hachimi told AFP. "At that point the Palestinians spread a rumor that he had been injured as a result of his arrest.

"All the officer wanted to do was to show them that everything was OK. [LOL! -- RFS] He was on view for about 20 seconds then they returned him to the jeep. Ten minutes later the demonstration was over.

"There was no human shield or any such thing."

WASHINGTON – Discrimination of women, Arabs and Ethiopians, mistreatment of refugees and asylum seekers and violations of migrants' rights – Israel is guilty of all these charges, according to a State Department report on human rights practices around the world.

The report states that the most significant human rights problems observed in Israel in 2012 were terrorist attacks against civilians but it also points to some concerning practices by the government.

One of the most pressing problems, according to the report, is "the institutional and societal discrimination against Arab citizens, in particular in access to equal education and employment opportunities."

The State Department also notede societal discrimination and domestic violence against women; and the treatment of refugees, asylum seekers, and irregular migrants.

"Other human rights problems included institutional and societal discrimination against non-Orthodox Jews and some minority religious groups; societal discrimination against persons with disabilities and Ethiopian Jews; and serious labor rights abuses against foreign workers," the report said.

Which brings me to my next point, either way the world doesn't care about it at all. They will just issue a little report and move on claiming they push for human rights. As long as it is white nations doing it, it's ok. Which mean the Muslims need to really get together and make a harsh response to any future aggression and hypocrisy.

Well we should stop being doubtful and start believing. It seems to slowly be happening but more change is needed still. We need to 'Islamize' our societies a little more. And I mean that we need braver people and people who aren't afraid of any scenario. The Muslim world today is too scared for this. The more dedication to a better society the bigger chance the beauty of Iman will unravel and a Muslim will be on the behalf of any Muslim who is defending theirself against a colonizer, occupier, murderder, imperialist, satanist, hypocrite and killer.
