Israel: Galilee man in critical condition after Muslim-Druze brawl

Police were braced Saturday night for a resurgence of fighting in the Western Galilee village of Abu Snan, where 40 people were injured in a brawl Friday night. One local man was in critical condition, and six others were badly injured after the fighting between some three dozen youths from the village’s Muslim and Druze communities.
Schools in the village will be closed Sunday for fear of renewed sectarian violence, it was announced earlier Saturday, as leaders of the two communities in the Muslim-majority mixed town made efforts to calm tensions between the sides.


In the course of the fighting a grenade was thrown, causing many of the injuries. Some of those hurt sustained shrapnel wounds to the head, stomach and chest. A video of the violent incident was published on the popular Arabic-language website Panet, according to which some shots were fired during the fight.

Police sent reinforcements to the town to restore order and maintain calm.

There is a difference in political aspects terms, Druze in Palestine have accepted the Israeli citizenship and some serve in IDF, comparing them to Syrian Druze living in Golan, they have refused the Israeli citizenship and only accept themselves as Syrians...

Syrian Lion, can answer your question better than I. The only thing I know is druze living in the Golan are more in tune with Syria than Israel and consider themselves Syrians. even Israel tread with them lightly.

There is no any difference. Druze religion teaches that they must be loyal to their country, thus Syrian Druze are loyal to Syria and Israeli Druze are loyal to Israel.

They can be very brutal (check their massacres against Christians in Lebanon). I can tell u that Palestinians are scared of Druze IDF soldiers much more than Jewish soldiers.

yours is quite a technical answer... but i would say that syrian druze are loyal to syria because of the baath ideology that syrian system has presently...
