Israel's air force attacked a weapons depot situated in rural areas around Hisya, south of the Syrian city of Homs, Arab media reported Wednesday night.

Several reports claimed that the Syrian military launched a surface-to-air missile against Israeli jets from its 72nd Divison Base but did not hit them.

A commander in a military alliance fighting in support of the Syrian government told Reuters that the IAF struck a copper factory south of Homs, and did not provide details regarding any casualties.

Channel 10 reported that the aircraft were not hit and returned safely to base.

This is the third strike in Syria attributed to Israel in recent weeks.

Two weeks ago, the IAF attacked and destroyed a Syrian SA-5 anti-aircraft battery east of Damascus after it fired a surface-to-air missile at Israeli jets.

The SA-5 missile battery, which was stationed some 50 kilometers east of the Syrian capital, fired at Israeli jets that were on a routine aerial reconnaissance flight in Lebanese airspace.

Five days later, the IDF hit three Syrian regime artillery positions following five projectiles that were launched towards Israel earlier that morning.
Three of the five projectiles landed in open territory in Israel’s northern Golan Heights, causing no damage or injuries.

After the mid-October attack, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented: “Our policy is clear: anyone who tries to harm us will be hit. Today they tried to hit our planes, which is unacceptable to us.”

Netanyahu said the IAF acted with “precision and speed,” and “destroyed what needed to be destroyed. We will continue to act as is needed to protect Israel’s security.”

Where are the S400 and Pantsir anti-aircraft systems??

These systems only work on hearts and minds of gullible customers, not on real aircraft.

Where are the S400 and Pantsir anti-aircraft systems??

S-400 is there to protect Russian Assets not Syrians and their alleged Weapon factories

Another cruise missile attack possibly a popeye missile. S200-300-400 cant track low flying targets far away at least not in the configuration installed in Syria. Pantsyr are in low numbers and can at most engage 4 targets simultaneously so not very suitable for an anti cruise missile operation either. Multiple engagement to at least 10 targets with smaller short range missiles are necessary for that kind of mission to protect airbases or similar installations. Sort of S300 but with mini missiles for short range defense.

Another thing is a2g popeye missiles as light missiles dont seem to have much bunker busting capability. Sensitive equipment needs to be stored underground and carried with tunnels not visible from above. Even Hamas had some success in hiding and protecting its assets in late wars. Planes need to come close to strike with bunker busters.

Do you mean the missile was launched from Sub marine>???

Actually I meant the popeye a2g variant launched from planes which has around 100km range which is enough to be launched from Labennon airspace or from above golan heights

Russia is Israel's top ally. Russia is the first country that recognized Israel.

Since when does Israel dare mess with Russia?

Su-35 and Su-30 have look down shoot down and certainly can take down cruise missiles.

Sure. :coffee:

Or they might not have been placed at this particular site.

Russia is Israel's top ally.

Actually, USA and India. China too somewhere in the middle.

The wiki on China-Israel relations says :
Israel was the first country in the Middle East to recognize the PRC as the legitimate government of China.

Russia is the first country that recognized Israel.

Hmm, I didn't know that.

Thanks for the info.

It's not placed because there's no Russian assets there... That site is already covered with Syrian SA5 SAMs which was fired but didn't hit the target.

Last month IAF took out one of these battery

Israel should return Golan back to Syria and Syria should make peace with Israel.

This sort of news shouldn't even be reported anymore, since it happens so frequently. Russia is there to protects its interests and military Base in Syria and thats it, they are not there to protectAssad and his defence industry from Israel. Israel and Russia don't have much enmity or issues to warrant going to war or conflict with each other. So Russia will stay out of any Syrian /Israeli issue.

Israel should return Golan back to Syria and Syria should make peace with Israel.
Ideally yes, that is what we can hope for. However, we don't live in an ideal war. Syrian joined the war against Israel and hot defeated and its land in the Golant heights seized and annexed by Israel as a result. So they have nobody to blame but themselves.
The world has always been for the strong and counties who have won wars against their adversary have often annexed that said territory. That has been the case for centuries, so I don't see why Israel should return it back to them, unless Syria is strong enough to retake it back by force.
