Astola Island, also known as Jezira Haft Talar Satadip or 'Island of the Seven Hills', is a small uninhabited Pakistani island in the Arabian Sea approximately 25 km (16 mi) south of the nearest part of the coast and 39 km (24 mi) southeast of the fishing port of pasbi. Astola is Pakistan's largest offshore island at approximately 6.7 km (4.2 mi) long with a maximum width of 2.3 km (1.4 mi) and an area of approximately 6.7 km2 (2.6 sq mi). The highest point is 246 ft (75 m) above sea level. Administratively, the island is part of the Pasni subdistrict of Gwadar District. The island can be accessed by motorized boats from Pasni, with a journey time of about 5 hours to reach the island.

Pakistan declared Astola as its first Marine Protected Area in June 2017 as part an international obligation of the Federal Government under the Convention on Biological Diversity and its Aichi Biodiversity.

Everyone is familiar with the beauty of Pakistan’s northern areas, but i am extremely blessed to discover the mesmerising charm of the country’s coast in the south.

So let me show you one of my most favorite and a hidden virgin place in Balochistan Astola Island.
It's situated in Balochistan Pakistan. It is also known as ‘'Jezira Haft Talar’ or ‘'Island of the seven Hills"

This Island is a part of Pasni Sub district of Gwadar.

The route to Astola Island is very easy. It can be accessed by rented boats via Pasni, which take approximately 1 hour 30 mints on speed boat to reach at Astola. Astola is Pakistan's largest offshore island as well.

The only problem for the tourists is since there are no facilities on the island, you had to pack everything from water, food, to camping supplies etc.

MOSQUE & SHRINE:

A mosque is also built on the top of the hill along with a shrine of Pir Khawaja Khizr. Many believe there was a hindu temple in the island but no such structure can be found there.

TOURISM:

Pictures and videos of Astola island made it a popular tourist destination despite being located on a remote area which is difficult to reach. People starting camping in the area, it also became a popular picnic and holiday spot. Tour operators also started scuba diving facility in the area just like Churna Island near Karachi.

Usually people prefer visiting northern areas of Pakistan for tourism as they are known because of lakes, green forests, glaciers & snow covered mountains.

In 2017 Balochistan Government declared Astola Island as the first Marine Protected Area, this was to ensure protection and conservation of marine life. The status of marine protected area doesn’t restrict the public access but imposes restrictions on recreational activities.
