KARACHI: The federal government is searching for a ‘suitable’ replacement to the ailing Sindh governor, retired Justice Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui, to fill the top office next month, Dawn learnt here on Monday.

The obvious reason for the move is Mr Siddiqui’s health, which is not ‘significantly’ improving, said a senior official in Islamabad.

Mr Siddiqui replaced the longest-serving governor, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, in the second week of November, but he could not stay at Governor House for long and was shifted to hospital for treatment of chest congestion and related disorders.

After his release from hospital, Mr Siddiqui was finally allowed to go to Governor House, where he is under constant care of a medical team.

Officials said the federal government had started searching for a technocrat or a former judge to appoint him/her governor of Sindh.

Saeed u zaman Siddique is the best choice , how he stood against the dictator was worth saluting him . Due to health issues he needs to go and some one of his character must be placed as Governor Sindh.

They will not make someone who is quite and never try to get popular .
