BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:20 P.M.) – The Islamic State’s (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) setbacks continued on Thursday as their forces lost another town in the Deir Ezzor province.
Backed by U.S. Coalition airstrikes, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) managed to score a big advance in eastern Deir Ezzor, today, after launching another big attack on the town of Abu Hassan.
According to local reports, the Syrian Democratic Forces broke through the last Islamic State defenses at Abu Hassan, forcing the latter to abandon their last positions and retreat south.
The Syrian Democratic Forces have since secured the entire town of Abu Hassan and cleared all neighborhoods that were previously occupied by the Islamic State terror organization.
With the Islamic State’s withdrawal south, the Syrian Democratic Forces are now pushing towards the town of Kashmah, which is located just north of the strategic Shafah area.
