ISIS launches Faculty of Medicine in Raqqa - LOL!

I don't generally open threads for daily news, however this was really funny so I couldn't stop myself.

On Saturday, the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) announced the opening of the Faculty of Medicine in Raqqa, in northern Syria, identifying only three years as a duration for completing the study, including the practical and theoretical sessions.

Local sources in Raqqa reported that IS militants distributed posters, on a number of areas across the city, announcing that the Office of Health of the Islamic State has set specific conditions to apply for the Faculty of Medicine in the “state”.

The IS-led Office of Health facilities for those who are prevented by what they described as “war conditions” to get a high school diploma, and apply for a test, “but conditionally should have obtained at least 80% in their preparatory certificates”.

The announcement also added that both male and female students are allowed to apply to the faculty.

Noteworthy, The IS group took control of Raqqa more than one year ago, to become one of the group’s main strongholds in the region, imposing a so-called “Islamic curriculum” on educational facilities in the city.

There are many three year programs already, and some that take two years. The three year programs have no vacations, and the two year ones are intensive with much longer days.

These days, getting through the USMLE is not enough, landing a residency is the tough part due to fewer slots left over for IMGs.
