ISIS continues to haunt Egyptian Army in Sinai

.
ypg is pkk’s offshoot so my original statement is still true:arabs lost 1/3 of the country to pkk which is really humiliating and pathetic

The issue is you're like a Kurd, hating on Arabs. I don't give too many shits about your personal issue with us Arabs.

The truth is that different Arab dominated factions took control of Eastern Syria over time, till in 2014 ISIS took the upper hand in the whole of Eastern Syria. That's when the USAF came in and cleared the path for the PKK/YPG. ISIS by itself would run over every Kurdish army/militia that exists in the world.

That's your class for now, Kurd

When Taliban came into Afghanistan, terrorism stopped as Indians were targetted and Americans became isolated to Kabul. It was no longer easy to organize attacks on Pakistan.

Except it's still happening every once in a while, right? That was my point, that no matter how effective you are, there will always be someone who can swear allegiance to that filthy group of scum, become a terrorist and inflict pain on many innocents. That concept is no different in Egypt than it is in Pakistan, Iraq etc. The good thing we have going for us in Egypt for now, at least, is that it is contained to roughly 30sqkm between 3 towns/cities in the northeastern part of Sinai right near the border of Gaza.

Egypt needs to take this situation as priority number one and use all leverage to that end. It makes me sad to hear of the decrease of water in the Nile. Egypt deserves better. All those farmers with their crops and the Nile breadbasket will all dry out.

We've been doing it, my friend, for 11 years now! lol. We can't just send our fighters there and bomb these poor people's dam and destroy their country because guess what? And I'm sure you know this being interested in politics but especially military is that the dam would not be the only target. We would have to destroy their entire line of defense, their aircraft (only 8 of them pose potential threat so not too too difficult to do) and destroy their command & control facilities and even some of their major political buildings to reduce their leadership strength for retaliation. The hit would need to hurt a lot more than just the dam to send the appropriate message and make it worth all the consequences that we would have to deal with, in both economic but especially political.

Point is, it's not that simple and we don't want to hurt them. All we want from them is to fill the dam in 7 years and not 2-3, that's it! They won't even agree to that. They can easily start producing power in 6 months time at that rate so that's not the problem. The problem is the Ethiopians think that the Blue Nile is theirs and only theirs and no one should tell them how they can use it. Problem with that sort of thinking is they're missing the fact that the Blue Nile is also Sudan's and Egypt's. When anyone says the word Nile, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Egypt and the pyramids. :-) Let's hope they come to their senses because it sounds like they're going to start filling it up next week without an agreement and then you will not hear anything else anymore from Egypt for a little while because we'll have exhausted every single possible diplomatic means and we're probably going to shift into the next, undesirable phase. Then expect all hell to break out, unfortunately.

Why not just secure the border yourself and make a deal with both governments to not interfere in Egypt. Seems like the logical course of action. Why antagonize Turkey and Libya?

Haftar won't last long anyway.

We did that already. GNA was very uncooperative and they don't even have an actual army or a strong enough political clout to do anything of the sort. Even Haftar needs help but he was the stronger army AND air force and was much more willing. We have our border secured by all sorts of systems that's why we're taking out all sorts of scum trying to cross. But when erdogan brings in 15,000 mercenaries to fight against the LNA and the Benghazi parliament.....right next door to our country? Screw him ten times over! You in Pakistan would never allow such a thing and you know it. Why should we?

Guilty as charged. However we are also pro-Arab too. Pakistan helped Arab states many times in their ways against Israel. We are also the only state which does not recognize Israel. Our nuclear deterrent has been very difficult for Israelis to digest.

Well, things appear to be a little different now. The turkey/Pakistan alliance is stronger than any love for any Arab nation and we understand that. It is what it is and we'll deal with it.

I feel like Egypt deserves to be the head of the Arab world, but it can't be under Sisi.

Again with Sisi. I think you folks are so obsessed with Sisi I just can't figure it out!?!?! WTF has he done to be so despised by all of you? loool. Fascinating phenomenon @The SC @Amun @camelguy guys what really is the hatred of Sisi based on? Do you guys know? lol. These folks don't see or know anything at all about how he's restored the economy on the right path and the amazing things he's done locally as well as with the military etc. In 7 years the man has turned Egypt around from the brink of falling into the abyss of failure to a shining example of prosperity with a lot of future potential.

I know many Egyptians and have never heard this before. If this is the case, thanks for clearing this up. I will do my own research to ascertain the facts of this. Thanks for the info.

Some of the local folks think that because we were the guardians of the islands throughout all these wars and difficult times and therefore the islands should automatically belong to us. Most of that stuff that you hear, that they are Egyptian islands, is because of that type of thinking. But that's not right. If Sisi did that to the Saudis, it would be the diplomatic equivalent of what Israel did when it attacked us in a surprise attack and stole Sinai from us. It's not right and Sisi, being a man who understands these things including the history of all of Egypt did the right thing. Cheers.

I propose the formation of the Fedayeen Al Sisi militia

I think it stems strictly from the turkish issue. Once Sisi came to power and flushed out the MB and really went after them hard, that hit a nerve with the dog in turkey who then opened his stink mouth and started a war of words. Sisi would've welcomed turkey and the dog with open arms but instead, the dog being a member of the brotherhood went the other way and started bitching about Sisi. So Sisi gave him the middle finger and told him to sit on it and rotate lmfao. :enjoy:

That has pissed off a lot of pro-turkish folks because he didn't succumb to the turkish desires, and these folks being aligned with him and turkey automatically fell like they should support him and them and so they immediately hate Sisi and malign him and insult him and all that crap without any thinking on their own! It's really sad.

Hopefully the dog loses the next election and they elect someone who isn't as crazy and lunatic to cause that country to be disliked by so many others in the Arab world and actually tries to fix things and normalize relations for the betterment of the ME.

Erdogan copied the Iranian regime's version of influencing others through ideology. Today's Muslim Brotherhood is not the same as that of during Sayyid Qutb's time. Today it's used to extend Turkish influence, it's much less about the actual Muslim brotherhood ideology. Of course, enough Muslims in the middle east who believe going the Islamist route is the solution to everything.. as we are taught this by default and having a different opinion is shamed.

Well Egypt under Nasser, Sadat, Mubarak, and other military leaders has always shifted towards India. You guys always had good relations with them, moreso than Pakistan.

Under Morsi, Egypt made a major push to earn allies with Muslim nations. Morsi went to Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, and other nations to repair ties. So we were naturally reprehensive when he was deposed.

Egyptian military has kind of shot themselves in the foot regarding Pakistan.

Let's hope they come to their senses because it sounds like they're going to start filling it up next week without an agreement and then you will not hear anything else anymore from Egypt for a little while because we'll have exhausted every single possible diplomatic means and we're probably going to shift into the next, undesirable phase. Ethiopian mentality is warped. See how they treat their own Oromo people and the terrible oppression they visited on Somalians when they occupied their country.

The Europeans, Gulfies, Israelis, and others have galvanized them, so they think they are invincible now.

I hope Egypt teaches them a lesson, because otherwise it will hurt the people of Egypt the most. Some kind of alliance needs to be formed against Ethiopia before Egypt can act. Atleast KSA/UAE should be on Egypt's side, but somehow I doubt they would endanger their relations and their bases in the Horn of Africa.

This ends when good projects parallel to the ones in the mainlands get carried out in North Sinai, these projects need security to start. A wall with Gaza will help, but more needs to be done concerning Gaza.
This said, I recall a water canal from the Suez to as far as Bir el Abd for agriculture and some organized housing projects yet not significant taking place in the area, one thing I’m sure of is that if Al Jazeera didn’t interview these people less funding would have reached them and less soldiers would have died. There is more to the UAE-Israel peace deal that will prevent Iranian weapons, Qatari funds from reaching Hamas thus the ‘Sinai Province’ - currently residing in several homes after settlers were evacuated (or have flee on their own) thus they ‘control’ them only to get jumped by SFs from the balconies as they chat and wander around.

Sinai is a complete desert except for a few huts here and there. If they had any competence, they would have solved the issue by now.
Sinai, isnt a complete desert, more than half of it, is mountians.
and most of these terrorists hide in tunnels, and underground caves,
Also, Guerrilla warfare can be used in any type of terrain, even in deserts.
You dont have to have trees to do Guerrilla tactics, all you have to do is just hit and run, opposing forces.

Too much conspiracy theory stuff, Qatar is simply mediator between Gaza and Israel and provides aid to the people of Gaza. They do not have deep ties with Hamas.

Situation in Sinai is mostly secure but Egyptian army needs to deploy more soldiers there and screen who is coming from the West of Sinai because it is not people from Gaza. I can show you videos of ISIS militants patrolling around freely in areas of Sinai. Someone doesn't mind them being active in the area to a limited extent in order to demonize Hamas and justify a blockade against Gaza.

Look at video at 2:15, your army detain two guys on suspicion of being ISIS militants and force them to patrol the street and execute them pretending it to be a sniper hit. Problem is intelligence and political one, Israel, US and Sisi not gonna mind allowing ISIS militants to arm in Sinai since whole purpose is to justify destroying smuggling tunnels to Gaza to prevent Hamas from arming.

Now tunnels are destroyed, the cities around Gaza were razed to ground, and Egypt is building a wall around Gaza. While siege will continue for few more years to demoralize Palestinians and do military operation to take over Gaza permanently after it becomes much harder to bring weapons into Gaza.

[Update]
Now I have a clearer picture of what happened!
After the attack on the Rabaa camp the military asked the residents of Rabaa and Qatiya to evacuate the homes on the main streets, during the next couple of days the residents of other villages came to visit the residents of Rabaa and Qatiya to congratulate for the safety etc... but on their way they reported ‘militants’ in the surrounding farmlands. The Islamic State later on at around the 21st of July entered the city from several fronts (not from the main streets) and of course raised the flag in a center of a compound and planted IEDs without approaching the army camp - on the 24th the military and the Islamic State clashes in the farms vigerously as reported by the residents causing panic as they were fleeing the village. Between the 25th of July and around 10th of August clashes took place in several compounds in that village and by then the village was empty which saw Army and Air Force activity - engaging any militants that they came across. starting from the 10th at around 9AM the village was free of militants. From the 10th of August till the 30th the army came across a suicide car that caused no injuries but they remained aware of Islamic State presence and were dismantling IEDs in the village. On August 30th the Rabaa camp has started to receive the displaced residents as they submitted personal info for compensation and organized return. Today some residents visited the village and they are now left to face the destruction that severely crippled that area.
Some residents stumbled across a group of militants whom they say did not speak Egyptian Arabic.

Pfm... Yeah.
As if AJ+ didn’t pay them for interview. Man, Qatar is the main source of funding for Islamists across the West. Surprisingly I don’t expect Daesh to wander around in parts of the Sinai, but they get smoked when detected by soldiers. Weapons that are used by Hamas ended up in the hands of the Islamic State, am I missing something? Perhaps tunnels don’t seem to ring a bell.

Your opinion is taken into consideration, thank you. If I was you I’d switch Sisi w/ Egypt - but that’s just to begin with.
