Sinai is a complete desert except for a few huts here and there. If they had any competence, they would have solved the issue by now.

Hasn't Turkey been fighting the PKK for dozens of years now? Its not as easy to be a guerrilla group as you think from your keyboard.

pkk exploited successfully in the past but since the introduction of domestic combat drone they are close to extinction inside Turkey
You know they are defeated when they are forced to fight in northern Iraq
There are less than 30 turkish army casualties since 2017
Attacks happen very rarely and almost all of them are innocent kurdish civilians and/or construction workers
Sinai is easy flat terrain yet Egypt suffers 10+ casualties per one attack so any comparison is out of question
