After Nethanyaho's visit, this is a serious question to be asked. He was welcomed like he was the emperor of the US, they were clapping at everything he said, he basically has the whole congress in his pocket (excluding 50 democrats).

I mean I'm not defending Iran. I think most of the problems in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon are caused by Iran and Iran supports mass-murderers like Assad who is responsible for 250 000 deaths of women and children. ISIS massacres seem almost nothing compared to that figure but to push the US into attacking Iran for Isreali interests? It seems like Nethanyaho can pull it off. His visit to the congress was just a way to test the waters to demonstrate that he has the US congress in his pocket.

One should be seriously asking whether or not the US is just a vassal state of Israel. I mean if Obama walked into the congress, he wouldn't be greeted like that. Most of those politicians are attacking Obama for his reservedness about everything while supporting Israel in every topic. Basically if Israel attacks Iran, they can pull the US into the war without a struggle. The congress would vote to join Israel in a blink.

It's called lobbying. The strongest lobby in a nation tends to get a lot of political praise and respect. The US is an independent power, the fact that the US continues to negotiate with Iran is evidence enough of that. The recent speech of Netanyahu was nothing more than a political stunt, meant to drum up support for the republicans against the Democrats.

I wouldn't read too much into it. Most of the time, things are exactly as they appear.

Of course that speech is a stunt. It was to demonstrate how much influence he has and that if he has to strike Iran, the US congress will be behind him. Basically he doesn't need approval from Obama.

There's a post missing here.

More than likely, it's a Trojan Horse (Congress). He needs approval from Obama since he can veto anything coming from Congress.

Lobbying or not, but the sycophantic behaviour on display when Netanayahu addresses the congress is too far.

I get national security interests. But Rand Paul got in trouble for not clapping hard enough.

He was questioned by fox news! No respect for their own head of state, but you better not insult Israel's leader.

Look, I get the security paradigm, but bounds of reason. This is getting embarrassing.

when you control the media, banks, and politicians....you're the man.

It's a game of politics that the Republicans are playing. Israel is America's palestine: a card to play.

Half the US political sphere is against Netanyahu. If I recall, the Democrats boycotted the speech, calling it a political farce.

If Netanyahu does strike Iran, you can bet Obama will not side with Israel in any meaningful way. Obama will distance the US from the strike and let Israel go it alone, only offering moral support from the sidelines.

Democrats are only 50 seats. It is not even worth to mention them. You saw how much support Nethanyahu got in congress, and the American media would work 24/7 for Nethanyaho as well in such a situation. Obama doesn't have much choice. How do you think he got there in the first place?

Fox news is a conservative media outlet, that's known for it's activism in the name of right win politics. The only ones who care about Netanyahu's speech are the conservatives, and quite frankly, they're losing public support. This was to shore up whatever support they can muster before the next elections in 2016.

Nothing is going to come out of this. Israel is known for it's air strikes, but they're done in secret and usually with support from the US. These speeches are to gauge US government support, as Israel does not want to be seen as having conducted the strikes unilaterally. If Israel was confident of US gov support, it would have conducted these strikes.

No amount of lobbying will change Obama's mind, no amount of pressure, as this is his last term and he doesn't give a damn what Netanyahu thinks.

Fox Media works for the conservatives, not the others. Most media centers have been quite active in speaking out against any sort of support for strikes, as they would pull the US into another war.

The Republicans are not worth mentioning here, because they're losing public influence. Even their power base in Texas may actually vote democrat next elections, as the last elections were pretty damn close there.

Obama's election and re-election has guaranteed that the republicans will never get a majority, even if they win future elections.

If Obama is president, he is emperor.

Definition of vassal state:

A vassal state is any state that is subordinate to another. The vassal in these cases is the ruler, rather than the state itself.

1. Being a vassal most commonly implies providing military assistance to the dominant state when requested to do so;

2. it sometimes implies paying tribute, but a state which does so is better described as a tributary state.
