In recent years after the end of dictatorship in Pakistan, She is getting a lot of attention from third world and alliances. Latest developments shows Pakistan is getting substantial share in world politics even with long standing rivals excluding India. UN has long ago removed the LOC from disputed territory list but constant push from Pakistan to draw attention towards the so called truce line to world audience has let Obama quoting that the dispute is still there and both countries to work towards it. With long struggling internal social issues, Pakistan is determined to increase its military might and nuclear arsenal by spending almost 40% of it's budget on military due to constant fear from the Indian side.

Recent years and days showed us huge investment, improving relations with neighbors except India, defence tie ups. There is no doubt that Pakistan internal agencies are jeopardizing improving ties between the two enemies which is evident or perhaps non state elements.

The question here arises is that Pakistan emerging has power in South Asia and neighboring regions to challenge India which has long enjoyed the attention except few countries.

The thread title is "Is Pakistan an emerging power in South Asia?"
The poll question is "Is Pakistan picking momentum in South Asia and World Politics."
Two different questions

Pakistan is not just an emerging power but has been a regional power in not just South Asia but entire Asia and with major upgrades to its military it will be that way

But I voted "No" in the poll because Pakistan is not picking momentum in South Asian or World politics yet, Pakistan is not a player in World or Regional politics as it used to be.
Pakistan needs to deal with their internal problems first and they have made some good progress on many issues
I am pretty sure Pakistan will start gaining momentum in world politics pretty soon but it still hasn't

kya hua raat mai koi spana dekha kya ?:-)....emerging power ...south Asia

Sure.but there are several other regional powers in South asia for ex. maldives bcz of her manpower, sufficient landmass, strong military (never lost any war),rising economy ,strategic geographic location( control strategic routes to already connected countries lol) and on top of that support of 50+ mulim countries always ready to fight for her like in the past to defeat India.

The question should be "Is Pakistan regaining it's status in South Asia ?", Cos Pakistan is already a power in South Asia not an emerging one, But currently on a set back because of domestic issues

Lets be unbiased my country men.. Pakistan is becoming regional power slowly and steadily...

Coming from set back can be alluded as emerging..

Coming from set back can be alluded as emerging..

Well i would say a set back for a already established power.. You could rephrase it as reemerging.. But certainly not a new regional leader

India is the emerging power in South Asia and Pakistan is an emerging counter power.

India is clearly the power in the region and as you say Pakistan is the counter power for India.. Both have been for decades now, If you think they're both emerging, Who infact have been the regional powers all this time ?
