Is Pakistan already a bankrupt state?

Below is a schematic of the entire Indus irrigation system which keeps Pakistan alive. As can be seen Bhasha would be upstream of the entire system and would act as master store. From there when needed water could be released into Indus River to feed the entire Indus rrigation system across all of Pakistan.

Amazing share , looks tremendous news

Yogo Dam -> Skardu Dam -> Bunji Dam -> Diamer Bhasha Dam -> Dasu Dam -> Tarbela Dam -> Kalabagh Dam

This is the proposed final schematic of existing and proposed water reservoirs on Indus basin. The canals can be taken out from Kalabagh dam and all of the above stored water used to overcome seasonal shortages. It will also naturally desilt the lower dams thus increasing their lifetime.

It will have direct bearing on irrigation. As Bhasha will be on the Indus River upstream of the entire irrigation system it will act as the 'master store'. Whe needed the water can be released into Indus which will flow down into the system.

Everything has benefits, the question is how much and if money is limited, where do you use it. In theory, both Daimler Basha and Kalabagh Dam should be built but with finance limitations, a heathy discussion on where the money should be spent is warranted. There are many experts who suggest that Kalabagh Dam is the only one with substantial irrigation use . Maybe politically difficult but if Pakistan can only finance one major dam, surely the question of which one should be front and centre.

Yes but given the financial constraints, which dam should be the priority is my question.

US based Pakistani billionaire Shahid Khan to donate $10 million to Imran Khan Dam construction fund news circulating on social media.
I am sorry Shahid Khan's money or any other ex-pat money cannot be accepted unless they meet the following criterion -

  • They must not be dual nationals
  • They must be practicing Muslims
  • They must be born in Pakistan

Oh believe you me, Kalabagh dam will be built; it's just going to take a little longer than our desires.

Straight question, what would you have liked to see as priority (ignoring political issues)

Kalabagh is best option because building it is easier then Basha. But trust me there is no chance. Over the decades it has become hot potato. It will just start a slugfest between K-Pk, Punjab and Sindh. PM IK's government is a weak coalition and it might fall apart. So from engineering/economic standpoint it makes sense but it politics is a no no. Best option go for Basha and get the people on board this whole dam building 'tsunami' and then maybe next term if Pm IK wins with a stronger majority he can go for the politically hot projects.

Yes but still when it comes to money we take it from all.
That is my point. You don't get fcukin people asking "hey you have dual passport or your not born here" blah blah bullshat.

Straight answer - Kalabagh Dam! Unfortunately, since there is not a consensus from all provinces, as a civilized nation we have decided to complete other factions of the plan first but only until everyone comes to an agreement.

And it's just matter of time before they would as it is an utmost requirement to have Kalabagh Dam.
