I mean just want to know whether media is free in Bangladesh or not. I have not seen any news channel from Bangladesh. Our country Pakistan has 80+ privately owned tv channels which also include over 15 news channels. Why media is lagging behind in Bangladesh. I mean with population a little less than Pakistan it must have over 70 tv channels plus 10 to 12 news channels...Is media free or not their?

free media can make a lot of difference..... i think Bangladeshis are not allowed to open any news channel...i may be wrong just want to confirm...They have only 14 to 15 channels...a country with population of 16 crore has only 14 to 15 channels....?? and plus look at India and Pakistan and see how media is boomign in both these countries...We see a new channel of Pakistan opening every other week or two week.

. .
Actually last year we had only 10 ch and just this year 10 more pro-awami ch opened up.

Its very hard to get a license to run a TV channel here in BD. Some people even tried to broadcast from Thailand, Calcutta, UK etc but got busted for not having license. You also dont get advertisement right if you dont have a license.

But once you have the right to run the TV channel then you are all your own. Govt does not mind critics with an exception on national security.

On top of that they do broadcast at least one Govt owned TV channel from most of our neighbours, like Durdarshan of India, PTV of Pakistan, Srilankan TV, Iranian TV, Saudi TV, BBC, CNN, German TV, Chinese TV, Korean TV. These all are state owned TV which you could see. Then you have more than 100s of private channel depending on the operator and what they offer. So media is pretty much free here.

This is the most circulated English daily in BD and had reputation on high class professional unbiased journalism.

This is the most circulated Bengali daily in BD and had reputation on high class professional unbiased journalism.

Both of the newspaper are not mouthpiece of any political party unlike others that you quote from most of the time.

Sure they are and obviously people like you are fan of these two anti-islamic news paper. Money can buy a lot of BS in bd.

Correct me I am wrong here. Isn't the edidtor of this scum news print Mafuz Anam had to visit the late katib Obaidul haq of Baitul Mukaram for apology(tauba) for anti-islamic activity. No one is blind here Mr. Iajdani.
