Iraqi protest updates and discussions

That's good. These peaceful protests can and will bring real change.

Recent reforms proposed by Abadi and approved by Iraqi parliament today is the most obvious sign.

Compare that with 'protests' in Fallujah and Ramadi 2 years ago, when hundreds of Al-Qaeda and ISIS sleeping cells were present among the protesters.

your country is fighting ISIS and you are worried about electricity problem?

Trust me there wont be any change if the Imam Sistani doesn't make the move no change you'll see
Indeed as long as most of the iraqis are religious and also there are no strong secular liberal parties

Before it was nationalist and communist party were the dominated in Iraq but today are the islamic parties and marjiah are the dominate

Sayyid Al-sistani is the strongest man in Iraq even stronger than the government when he mobilized millions

Also all the different Shia factions and parties who doesn't follow his taqleed they followed his fatwa like badr brigade and the supreme islamic council of al hakim or the peace companies and al asaib of the sadrist and moqdata al Sadr

Many Shias have phobias of not revolting because the baath might return or the south become like the Sunni areas but for me it's nonsense because Iraq is already is bad situation how more bad can get if the people revolt against this corrupt government

Is it really peaceful or can it turn into a "Civil War" like in Syria?

It can't turn into a war, the protesters are with the army they won't fight them, there were some clashes (non-lethal) as bad elements exist everywhere.

It's not like the Anbar and Hawija protests of 2013, also the people in the north aren't waiting for another ISIS adventure so they're not going to be causing chaos or stand against the army.
