Despite that Govt wantd to talk to him. Infact the Col went on behalf of former Gens for negotiation. I think TTP just for favours (money or st else) not only killed him but taped to show. Anyway there is a time span between 2 incidents so Things changed.

For me its sounds absolute logical that Iran and KSA hold peace-talks. First to settle the yemen war (in which KSA is destroing itself). And second to move away from the staged alarms by US which press the KSA to buy US weapons. And now these US weapons, Billions and Billions and Billions of Saudi money, even not work against old Scud-D from yemeni army - let alone CM against Aramco. So why should KSA go on with this shit? The money can better invested in KSA than in US-Weapons. And the best way to do that is to make peace with Iran and so there is little need of new weapons, maybe buying from Russia, but let enogh money left to develop KSA. This all makes sense.
