Reza shah's forced uncovering was temporary. He instituted it in 1936. And he was removed when the British invaded in 1941. His son, during all of his reign attempted to assuage the clergy. He went to Hajj. He prayed in mosques. Women wore their veil.
Giving people freedom of choice is not being liberal or a Western lackey. We have long tradition of that in our country, going back to antiquity. Of course, this undermines the base of clergy's power. So they're against that. But this is an irreversible movement. So the religious can learn to adapt and modify their beliefs so as not to get in the way other people's choices. Or stand fast and be blown out of the way. Today it's Iran. But tomorrow it will be Pakistan. There's no doubt about it.
And you are entitled to your conspiracy theories about iran's enemies. But I don't share them. Thank you very much!
Pleasure to read such words .
One of my every day pain is see Iranians suffering ...
and by the way you say about conspiracy theories some people are fan of: but i am always surprised that they defend their ennemies. Let me explain: high level of corruption : the corruption of the country is the ennemy of the country: it is easily used by the enemies of the country. When it is a democracy corruption is more difficult.
For exemple a few days ago i heard someone i didn't hear for a long: i am not going to say who he is but he is directly linked to the bad French guys who defended Saddam and were making profits with the sanctions against Iraq : it was good for their business. so the guy , who is the typical guy who doesn't care about Iraqis, said that the best for Syria or Iraq is get someone like Saddam.
Of course some guys in Iran make money for themselves, they make more poor the country and the only way to avoid talk about it is no democracy and creating conspiracy theories believed by idiots.
Being converted muslim in France i suffer much mockery by non educated people. And when i speak of freedom of choice (if real choice) of scarf , many French say i am islamist (and i hate political islam). But if i say this here i would be a fake muslim.
At least i know that Turks and Iranians have long history (and not the only ones) of tolerance.
it is not just a hazard that the soufi figures are from the region.
Iranians should remind where they come from and be proud of their real past. And see the future they can create, not stick to agree with everything said by a crazy guy happy of the corruption of the country.
and believe me the people who hate Iranians or Iran, they are pleased with Iranian regime . they don't want change for good.
