Iranian homegrown telescope releases 1st deep space images


This is NGC23 a remote galaxy which is some 319 mn light years away from earth. What's more interesting is that the interstellar object was observed by none of the celebrity telescopes like James Webb, but by a new indigenous Iranian observatory called INO, marking a milestone in the country's quest for deep space.

INO is still not fully developed. Engineers need to integrate software, fine-tune the active optics, and install the first science instrument, a high-resolution imaging camera.

Once completed, the telescope will help scientists understand galaxy formation and stellar evolution and hunt for exoplanets.

With INO, Iran has marked its first giant leap in space exploration and has fairly entered the world space race. Its builders are now thrilled to announce that they soon release more stunning mages of deep space, hoping to help the world catch a glimpse of the wonders of our universe.

3.4 meter optical (visible spectrum) mirror ..the mirror was made in Germany the rest of the observatory was all Iranian designed...the location of this observatory is what makes it special for me..Iranian skies are usually dry and free of moisture ..perfect for such work.The video shows the location

Time for Iran to design and build a Radio telescope to complement the this optical telescope.

How does it compare to the International Liquid-Mirror Telescope (ILMT) in India
I have no idea on astronomy ?
Bcs in another thread a Turkish guy was claiming liquid mirrors were bad and infrared mirrors are very good ?

To be honest I am not familiar with Liquid mirror type specific advantages other than lower cost for liquid mirror and some operational limitation but there is no GOOD or Bad ..it all depends what you want to explore..Visible spectrum (India and Iran ) gives the most data..IR is most specific to what you are looking for

only the glass , not the mirror , the glass made in germany and polished in finland . but it turned into mirror on site in Iran

Time for Iran to design and build a Radio telescope to complement the this optical telescope.
the mirror is capable of being used in infrared spectrum , I say what is more important is they upgrade the camera to be able to be used for infrared wavelengths specterums

for that member any thing in turkey is the best don't take him serious infra red and visible spectrom telescope complement each other , none is better than the other. its like saying orange is better than lemon

you see thes type of telescope , while can be used alone for research will have best result when they are chained together and work with each other on projects .

by the way both ILMT and INO are new and their mirrors are not fine tuned yet and that can take up to 1 year so in half to one year you must expect a lot better quality photo from both telescope

i knew it took around 15 years and still in progress (there is another facility too be installed) how much it was I don't knew . but consider it that , the price can't be attributed to other telescope , as for sanctions , many technologies must have been imported through 1 or 2 middleman that raised the cause and many technologies have to be developed inside Iran (it was like inventing the wheel again so that also raised the cost)

the $2 million instrument, built by a consortium from Belgium, Canada, and India, is much cheaper than telescopes with glass mirrors

Indian one is very cheap extreme value for money
I think the Iranian and Turkish scopes are very very expensive
Is thier no news or article about it ?

But Arbabi and some colleagues fear that opaque project management and a shift in the nation's political leadership pose threats to the $30 million INO—the biggest science project Iran has undertaken



30 million dollars that's too much in my opinion
But congratulations to world's 3rd largest observatory
