Does Iran have the project to build the large destroyer?

Probably not. All i know is that we make 10,000 plus ton ocean liners regularly and there is a 100,000 oil tanker currently being built.

I would think not though, b/c our military strategy is based on asymmetric warfare. The midget subs being built are much more useful. We already have more than 20 Ghadirs and around 4-6 new ones are added each year. I think they're going to build another 10 or so of these things and then start making larger subs.

This is more likely a Corvette/frigate hybrid; seems like a new niche class of warship. Indigenous weapons are always better to have. You have the freedom to evolve it and develop it the way you like it and maybe even profit from exporting it to friendly countries.

The ship design is based on the Vosper designed and built Saam class, which survive as the Alvand class. The original designation of these ships in the IIN was DE (destroyer escort in USN parlance), which coincides with FS/FF ([light] frigate in UK naval parlance). It actually used to say DE on their hull...

Iran's been working on economy in the 1st step and the plan is reaching an independent economy that can't be affected by foreign forces and not be based on oil and gas . In science Iran's advancing rapidly as it was the 1st in middle east in science production this year . In foreign relations next trying to connect the ones don't want Iran as a slave and as it seems next president will certainly have better relations with other countries unlike Ahmadinejad . In military Iranian experts have been working on Important projects like Shafagh - bavar 373 - Shahab 5-6 missiles and designing navy .including Satellites . Working on Nuclear program is really well which will certainly be useful for energy and etc ... .

This is not my dream that I say today . This 20 year prospect was planed 15 years ago and is under development .

You are exactly like the Americans though Iranian revolution would be kneeing for them under pressure but It never happened . Its impossible for you but have a look on Iran . I don't think Saudi Arabia is a rival as they are living in ice age days and just wasting money on F15 and Euro fighters instead of working on their society and science . They are just users . But Turkey has a good industry , farm and above all economy , Tourism is good there too but they're not out of reach and 13 years is enough .
