Iran sends relief aid to flood-hit areas in Pakistan

Iran Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has sent a consignment of humanitarian aid to Pakistan to assist areas hit by a recent flood.

The consignment weighs about 50 tons and is worth more than USD100,000, Alireza Aqaei, the IRCS representative in Pakistan said on Saturday.

He added that the relief aid was sent to the people of Jacobabad district in Sindh province, one of the worst hit areas.

The Iranian official said that the consignment includes foodstuff and relief items, adding that the aid batch was sent to Pakistan after an assessment of the basic needs of people in flood-stricken areas.

Hundreds of people have been killed across Pakistan due to weeks of monsoon floods in the country.

An overall five million people have also been affected by the floods in the provinces of Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab.

The worst hit area has been the Sindh province with more than half of the flood-related deaths.

Pakistan has suffered destructive floods over the past two years.

In 2010, the country was hit by the worst floods in its history, which took the lives of nearly 1,800 people and affected about 21 million others.

Thank You Iran !

@ Pakistanis who hate Iran: Shame on you !!!

all at the time when children are dying in Iran due to medicine shortages. Such aid always has political motives.

wahabi, 1 kid died, ONE.

In a couple of months our pharma companies will start producing the meds. They didn't have to make these meds before the sanctions (not profitable), but now they will have an incentive. They also can't start making the meds over night, it takes a little time.

but yeah, you're right. Iranian money should be spent on Iranian people. The amount of money leaving for arab nations and other countries is mind boggling. As Iranians like to chant, "na ghaze, na lobnan, janam fadaye Iran." I don't think that needs a translation.
