Iran ready to help strengthen Afghanistan army
Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi met with Afgahn Vice President Muhammad Qasim Fahim on Sunday and announced Iran’s readiness to share its experiences with Afghanistan to help the neighboring country strengthen its army.
Vahidi also described Tehran-Kabul relations as “strategic”.
Fahim thanked Iran for its support of the Afghan nation and government and called for increased cooperation, particularly in the area of defense.
He also highlighted Iran’s role in promoting security in Afghanistan as well as the region.
Iran & Afghanistan sign MOUs
During Fahim’s two-day official visit to Tehran, Iranian and Afghan officials also signed two memorandums of understanding including an MOU inked between Iranian Science Minister Kamran Daneshju and Afghan acting Minister of Higher Education Muhammad Sarwar Danesh.
Fahim left Tehran for Kabul on Sunday.
