Iran launches missile attack on Israel

Shahed drones would be useful as well for future attacks by Iraqi resistance groups supplied by Iran. The problem I observed in its usage in Ukraine conflict is I think flying too low makes it easier to detect on flat areas by short range air defense systems on its flight path eventhough it has low rcs(especially the jet engine version). Flying low is good for getting close to the target but once it is in a flat area flying several 100ms altitude short range systems like gepard can detect them from several kms and shoot them down.

If it flies at 5+km altitude it will be much harder for ground radars to detect it in my opinion. Only point defense would work and in case of a saturation attack it becomes difficult to take out all shahed drones at the target. If low altitude flight profile is planned it needs to avoid flat terrain as much as possible and fly close to mountains.

Would it have been better to launch a few missiles a week (including hypersonic), instead of a sudden barrage of hundreds and nothing for months in between?

For long range high altitude defense these might also be useful. If the Karrar drone can lock heat seeker missile close to enemy aircraft they can down them. The drone is high altitude as well having 1000km range

Drone can be reusable by parachute and have about 500km range to strike enemy aircraft and return.

It can be useful for Iran against possible israeli(usa) counter attack as well as drones can be transferred to areas like Yemen to defend against israeli air attacks from longer ranges. Early warning radars are necessary though to vector the drones.

israel will possibly fly low over Iraq(maybe Usa-allied northern Iraq where local observers wont alert anyone) or over from airspace of countries south of Iraq to avoid Iran early warning(or F35 but they have low number and long wavelength radars can make early warning and rough location estimation for a2a drones). Iran might have awacs or borrow awacs from China or Russia(more difficult because of Ukraine situation) for early warning. Iranian personnel should be using awacs and if it is downed it can be paid back to the country that provided the aircraft. Security of Iranian oil fields are also important for China as a major customer. I think an awacs deal can be made.

For a low cost awacs alternative carrier helicopters can be modified to lift up a scanning radar to sufficiently high altitudes for early warning. Some ground based radars can be converted to be lifted up by a carrier heavy helicopter(vibration dampers are necessary as well ofcourse for efficient tracking) and computers can be integrated for analysis. It may not be as effective as an awacs plane but cruise missile attacks or low flying enemy fighter aircraft can be detected as an airborne early warning system alerting other systems.

If an enemy long range sam attack against helicopters is detected like for example from usa ships sm3 attack or usa awacs-lock on is detected or similar the helicopters should immediately lower down to several meters(blocks ground radar line of vision because of earth curvature) and escape behind mountains or even behind small buildings(helicopters can do that) to block awacs line of sight. Helicopters should have high quality radar warning recievers. Then return back to scan again as the opposing ship-awacs threats are counter attacked by cruise missiles and long range sams.
