Countries like Iran, Russia, Japan and Turkey are civilization nations.. Meaning they're continuously unbroken nation states for thousands of years.. Unlike in the Gulf which are basically drawn up countries by European colonists (Iraq, Saudi etc..) These nations are not that easy to militarily or culturally subjugate

The northern part of Iran next to Caspian is the most difficult to take.
