Srinagar: The fear of murder amongst grass root politicians has led more Sarpanchs to resign. On Tuesday more than 90 Sarpanchs submitted their resignation through local newspapers following the murders of two Sarpanchs within a fortnight in the valley.
In all 140 Sarpanchs have resigned since Sunday and 900 in the last five months.
While Panchayat members from South Kashmir are expected to stage protest in Delhi highlighting their plight, a delegation of Panchayat members from Jammu and Kashmir will be meeting Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi in Delhi this week.


Jammu and Kashmir Chief minister Omar Abdullah said that he will take up the issue at the next unified command meeting.
Panchayat polls were held in Kashmir in 2011 after a decade.

Fake encounters are being reported, there are already steps taken to check human rights violation which happen in any region like Kashmir (not giving an excuse, but the truth), discovery of mass graves well are you guys sure they are innocent civilians or terrorists which would have got away or live their life in jail without any sentencing like Kasab.

If for peace of region, few terrorists are killed by army in fake encounter , the terrorists who would have killed many civilians and army personnel, then I openly support it. To hell with terrorists' human rights. We have lost over 50,000 people in Kashmir violence. Sometimes steps have to be taken, line has to be crossed to send a message. If it is against my country, I will take any measure. Those terrorists were not freedom fighters. Those civilians who take law in their own hands and kill innocent civilians, they are supposed to be killed.

Now I would like to bring the hypocrisy is WHERE is the Moral Compass of many posters out here when monks burn themselves, no western media is allowed to go their and human rights violation when someone speaks against govt. Isn't it weird that Kashmir insurgency decreased as WoT started ?

Why didn't anyone in your country ask that why did your govt. allowed terrorists to intrude in India who kills innocent Kashmiris. Where was the human rights argument ?

If one wants to take the Moral High Ground, make a neutral baseline and then start comparison.

I am not saying in India, there are no human rights violation, even when I know the mental and physical hardship these soldiers go through, being away from family and seeing too much violence are the causes of these crimes. But one has to understand about what we give back to them. Human rights activists demonizing these soldiers, what about human rights of these soldiers living for over a decade ? They are human beings too.

Isn't it worked. Check the recent stats of terrorist attack in Kashmir and intrusion attempt numbers. Its working and people are living in peace relatively considering back in 1990.

Doesn't people disappear in Baluchistan and found dead, mutilated and tortured bodies weeks or months later.

In one post you said, Indians are not angels, so buddy, Pakistanis aren't either.


P.S.- See there is some problem. Our soldiers can be openly targeted. I reported to take strict action against a poster who disrespected our soldiers calling them slaves but no action was taken.

I don't think any mass graves have been discovered in Baluchistan, nor any fake encounters have come to light, hence after faking in Siachin, it's hail glory in IOK as well.
