Report: Intelligence Forces Disband 30 Terrorist Cells Prior to Elections

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian intelligence forces have arrested and disbanded 30 terrorist cells one week before the country's March 2 Parliamentary Elections, media reports said on Monday.

According to a report by the Persian-language Mahdoudeh website, the terrorist cells planned to carry out terrorist bombings and sabotage operations in different constituencies in Western and Central Iran during the last week to the legislative elections in the country.

The report added that the terrorist cells comprised of the remnants of the anti-Iran Komala grouplet, PJAK (Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan) and the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) and planned to carry out bomb blasts at the campaign headquarters of various candidates.

The Iranian intelligence forces have also seized 5 hand-made explosive devices in their raid on the terrorists' hideouts.

The western intelligence agencies and Israeli spy agency (Mossad) always collaborate with anti-Iran terrorist groups to insecure the country and lower the public participation on the threshold of elections in Iran.

In addition to the intelligence forces, the Iranian police also kept its forces on full alert and made use of all its human resources and possibilities to maintain security during the Friday polls, as a result of which the elections were held in full security and calm all throughout the country, including the capital.

Iranians from different walks of life came to the polling stations in large numbers on Friday to determine the fate of the country's legislative body for the next four years.

Over 48 million Iranian voters were eligible to vote, and initial estimates showed that over 64% of them have been present at the polling stations.
