Army troops today foiled an infiltration bid along Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A group of 2 to 3 armed persons were seen moving towards the Indian side of LoC in Keri forward area of Rajouri district around 1100 hours, PRO Defence S N Acharya said.

As they were moving ahead, the Indian troops guarding the border line challenged them and fired at them, he said, adding that they also fired back resulting in exchanges.

The infiltration bid was, however, foiled, he said.

Now we know the reason for the ceasefire violating firing on the border by pak army yesterday. As usual, to give cover to infiltrators.

Pakistani troops today violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) by resorting to unprovoked firing for nearly 30 minutes in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

Pakistani troops today violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) by resorting to unprovoked firing for nearly 30 minutes in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

'Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian posts along the LoC between Saidan and Doda in Poonch sector at 10.45 AM,' they said.

Indian troops fired back to silence the Pakistani guns and the exchange of fire between the two sides continued till 11:15 AM. :sniper:

There was, however, no report of any casualty on the Indian side.

This is the second time in as many days that Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire along the LoC. The incident came at a time when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is on a two-day tour of the state.

Yesterday, there was small arms firing on Indian posts in Durga Battalion area in Poonch brigade belt around 1515 hours.

The latest incident is the fifth ceasefire violation in June.

Earlier this month, a Junior Commissioned Officer was killed when Pakistan opened heavy fire with automatic weapons and rockets on Indian posts along the LoC in Poonch sector.

Pakistani troops had also opened indiscriminate firing in the Poonch sector in which a civilian was injured after an infiltration bid was foiled by Indian troops. They had opened small arms firing on Indian posts in Nangi Tikri forward area along LoC in Krishnagati.

Last month, Pakistani troops had pounded Indian posts along LoC in the Poonch sector with rockets. A Brigadier and two jawans were injured when Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian positions along the LoC in Tutmari Gali sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
