Indonesia warns against arms race after Australian nuclear sub pact

The US and his lackey are still killing civilians as we speak but but but we are the "unpredictable" according to mr viet.

How are you gonna do that, the world is changing, the future belongs to sixth gen tech, and each branch of them cost you ten, hundred billion US dollars, small/middle size nations can never catch up but leaving further behind.
You are too shallow if not primitive.
If it’s just technology then the US backed Afghan government won the war and not surrendered in a week.
By your logic all countries except big guys should give the military because they have no chance.
Sure money maters but it’s not everything.

Read Art of war 100 times before making such stupid comment.

What art of war? You mean written by Ccp? No thanks. You should understand Vietnamese only read Viet version of art of war. We want to win war not lose it.
As I said you are too shallow.

.
Nope, it was USA and Britain who give us armed embargo after our army shot many East Timor civilians during the demonstration in Santa Cruz.

USA embargoed Indonesia since 1995-2005 while Britain since 1998 If I am not mistaken.

Australia is not a factor of East Timor case and it is Indonesia agaisnt whole Christian Western Europe + USA and Indonesia was also hit by Asian Financial Crisis since 1997-2002, we need to ask loan to IMF and you guys know who are the lender countries in IMF...

Indonesia invaded East Timor in 1976 and it becomes our weak point when it comes to Western nations, particularly after USSR collapse. East Timor is Christian majority region.

You dare not face real problems.
People in Bali are Hindus, should they be independent?
China will not allow Xinjiang independence, Thailand will not operate Pattani independence, and the Philippines will not operate Mindanao independence.

If Vietnam shows weakness Chinese will come and take our islands. We have nothing to stop them.
Your Ak is useless.

What do you mean "nope"..? Australia is the main point for East Timor (ET) campaign against Indonesia, most of their supporters and activists resides there, the massive media campaign against us mostly originated there...

Formally the Australian government supported the integration, but informally there is no doubt they supported the secessionists... In formal gov-to-gov relations, they kept on stating that they support ET to be part of Indonesia... but quietly they supported the ET separatists through various NGOs, negative campaigns, and activist organizations.. Various Australian lawmakers, politicians, and media also supported the independence of ET... When we were still relatively strong, the Aus gov kept on claiming that they support the integration of ET, but once we were down, weak, and close to bankruptcy they immediately throw the facade away and openly supported ET independence and separation.

Australia is the first to formally acknowledge the annexation of ET by Indonesia, but is also the first and most enthusiastic country to send troops to ET after the referendum... they basically insisted for their troops to be the first to enter ET and to be the leader of the ET liberation (UN) forces... even before a formal UN mandate to send troops to ET, black flights has been detected flying in and out of ET...

The main reason why Australia accepted the annexation of ET (other than fear of communism) :
1. Australia get a 50% share of oil & gas in the Timor Gap area when they should be getting much less (related to point 2)
2. Australia got 80% of the seabed boundary, pushing the border much closer to Indonesia instead of the more usual 50% (or the median line).

Independent ET and Australia will later on have territorial disputes due to this... but it was resolved more or less in 2018 with ET successfully pushing the seabed boundary line back to the median line... however by this time most of the Oil and Gas in Timor gap is already extracted.. the supply is expected to run out before the end of this decade.. so Australia is not losing much either..

Here you can see how far is the (then) agreed boundary line between Indonesia - Australia compared to the Median Line..

Now what pisses me off is that even though ET has successfully pushed back the seabed boundary to the proper median line.. our gov have not done so with our borders... if our annexation of ET is wrong, then it means all deals between Indonesia and Australia regarding the establishment of the seabed boundary of the area should also become null and void and should be re-negotiated.. as the boundary, established the way it was, was due to our deal and agreement with Australia regarding annexation of ET... If we are so worried about Chinese incursions into our EEZ then we should also make this an issue and fight for our fair share of seabed boundary with Australia...

You are too naïve to think that Australia has no ill will towards us... though it's probably true that they have no intent on taking our land territory (they are not lacking), but they are all too happy to see us broken up into more "manageable" chunks... They want to be the top dog, the "white" leader, in this neighborhood of "brown" people and we, being in their front porch, is in the way...

Papua has always been their next project after ET... the only reason they have not done so recently is due to the rise of China... if not due to their preoccupation with China, we would be seeing so much more of the negative media campaign regarding West Papua from Australia.. of course, formally they will "always" support the integration of West Papua with Indonesia.. but again some of their lawmakers and politicians has already openly supported the Independence of West Papua.. just the way it was with ET... especially now that Papua is somewhat flaring up again with OPM attacks on civilians, public facilities, etc...

Now they will soon have nuke subs that will have the ability to cruise and hide within our waters for months at a time.. and we will have no way of knowing... oh and have I mentioned that they previously tapped the personal phones of our president, first lady and a lot of his cabinet ministers too...?

Nope, Australia never done thing like that. It is European countries and then USA who forces us. Australian public yes, but not their government

Australia volunter after Indonesia made decision to conduct election in East Timor. Australia as the hands of Western nations in Asia of course will do that, while whole ASEAN members dont want to do that sensitive thing.

Basically we are against whole Christian world, similar like Christian South Sudan case

Indonesian occupation (1975–1999)[edit]

A demonstration for independence from Indonesia held in Australia during September 1999
Indonesia's occupation of East Timor was marked by violence and brutality. A detailed statistical report prepared for the Commission for Reception, Truth and Reconciliation in East Timor cited a minimum of 102,800 conflict-related deaths in the period 1974–1999, namely, approximately 18,600 killings and 84,200 "excess" deaths from hunger and illness, with an estimated figure based on Portuguese, Indonesian and Catholic Church data of approximately 200,000 deaths.[43] The East Timorese guerrilla force (Forças Armadas da Libertação Nacional de Timor-Leste, Falintil) fought a campaign against the Indonesian forces from 1975 to 1998.[citation needed]

The 1991 Dili Massacre was a turning point for the independence cause and an East Timor solidarity movement grew in Portugal, the Philippines, Australia, and other Western countries.

Following the resignation of Indonesian President Suharto, a UN-sponsored agreement between Indonesia and Portugal allowed for a UN-supervised popular referendum in August 1999. A clear vote for independence was met with a punitive campaign of violence by East Timorese pro-integration militia supported by elements of the Indonesian military. This allowed the sending of the multinational peacekeeping force, INTERFET, which was formed by Australia, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, and New Zealand, with aid from the United States, to restore order and aid East Timorese refugees and internally-displaced persons.[44] On 25 October 1999, the administration of East Timor was taken over by the UN through the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET), headed by Sergio Vieira de Mello.[45][46] The INTERFET deployment ended in February 2000 with the transfer of military command to the UN.[47]

I dont know why u are keep defending Australia. I have Indonesian friend abuse while on social visit in Australia. In the eyes of white Australian, Indonesian are barbarian. While white australian are human being and civilized.

Now Malaysia has just openly joined Indonesia in the political fray in condeming the deal which it said will results in an new arm race in ASEAN. :coffee:

Meanwhile RBA has just revised Australia GDP growth for 2021 at 0% from 2.5% back in February.

This is hardly surprising and merely confirming what many leading economists have been saying back in January 2021.

You are off topic.
Australia nuclear submarines would be no threat to Indonesia if that’s the case Canberra could stay on conventional submarines. It’s clearly against chinese nuclear submarines. China becomes aggressive thus the step of Australia is understandable because she feels threatened by Ccp.
France receives $300m in compensation. It’s not a breach. Canberra has the rights to cancel the contract within a period. France conventional submarines are not strong enough in a war.

arms up to protect the sea route from China, their biggest trade partner, and raw material importer which the country direly needed, that makes so much sense, mr viet.

PM’s trip to Indonesia cancelled amid fallout over AUKUS alliance
September 18, 2021 - 14:35PM

Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s trip to the Indonesian capital Jakarta has been cancelled as the fallout over the AUKUS defence pact continues.

Mr Morrison planned to stop at Indonesia on his way back from Washington next week.

But the Indonesian government said President Joko Widodo was unavailable due to scheduled trips to provinces outside the capital.

Mr Widodo has previously expressed alarm over Australia’s plan to arm itself with a nuclear submarine fleet, saying he’s “deeply concerned over the continuing arms race and power projection in the region”.

Wait a second
It’s not China that threatens and insults Australia as dog?
Is not your aggressive claim and actions that bring us on the brink?
I bought a Audi. That does not give the car dealer the right to come to my house and sh… in my garden.

if we want to see Taiwan remain a independent and free and fair nation not run by a authoritarian dictatorship and minority sent to the Gulags for simply speaking there minds then definitely yes Australia does need these nuclear submarines

if China didnt lock up estimated 3 million Ughurs had they not killed the HK residents and murdered the Tibetans and demolished Churches (who are people of the book also) we wouldn't be in this situation

China has shown once it becomes rich and powerful they will kill anyone who speaks against them

therefore Taiwan reunification cannot be allowed and Taiwan people freedom will be protected

Australia cannot operate submarines near Taiwan or even in the South China Sea unless they are NUCLEAR

thats why they need Nuclear submarines and they must be very advanced to remain undetected

this will ensure Taiwans freedom for there is no cost higher than freedom

So it’s a typical mis direction from domestic issues .
