KRI Klewang (625) (builder model number X3K) was a Klewang-class stealth trimaran fast attack craft launched by PT Lundin Industry Invest for the Indonesian Navy in 2012.[2] She was destroyed by fire on 28 September 2012 while undergoing fitting out.[3]

Design
KRI Klewang has a length of 63 m (207 ft), a beam of 16 m (52 ft), with a draught of 1.2 m (3.9 ft), and displacement of 219 t (216 long tons).[2] The vessel was powered by four MAN V12 diesel engines with total power output of 7,200 horsepower (5.4 MW), which propelled four MJP 550 waterjets, with two located on the outrigger and the other two on the main hull. Klewang has a maximum speed of 35 knots (65 km/h), with cruising speed at 22 knots (41 km/h).[2] She has a range of around 2,000 nautical miles (3,700 km) at 16 knots (30 km/h). The vessel has a complement of 29 personnel, including a team of special forces.[2]

Klewang was planned to be armed with four and up to eight C-705 anti-ship missiles in enclosed launchers and a Type 730 CIWS in stealthy turret. According to the builder, the vessel also able to be armed with Penguin or Exocet missiles and naval gun of up to 57 mm caliber without affecting the stability of the vessel. She also carried an 11 m high-speed rigid-hulled inflatable boat for the special forces team.[2]

The new vessel, KRI Golok, just been launched couple months ago and built after extensive research on the material that will have better resistance with heat and fire

Looks beautiful! Congratulations bud!

Indonesia has been underspending for its defense for a long, long time. It is time that you guys increase your defence budget to modernize your forces. Fast assault gunboats make sense for you since Indonesia has several oil platforms and marine based assets around your islands to protect.

Thanks bro, we have been waiting the resurgence of Klewang Class after the first ship burn in 2012.

I do think we have to keep our defense spending at 9-10 billion USD until 2024 due to economic situation and the need for Indonesia to be ready in the beginning of recent trade deal, RCEP, that will be commenced in 2022. All necessary infrastructure need to be built to increase our economic competitiveness among ASEAN member countries. We also need to make sure we can reduce state budget deficit from current 5 % of GDP into 3 % in 2023 as stated by our law. Economic stimulation can only be done maximum at 3 years and I hope no Covid third wave in Indonesia.

This then should make us use our defense budget as efficient and effective as it can. We should not have big acquisition of fighters while we are still developing KF21/IFX with South Korea just as an example.

Yup fast attack warship is the best way to defend our large sea territory. This is why we have KCR 40 and KCR 60 missile boat program. Cheaper option but is quite effective to tackle any aggression from larger ship like frigates.

Indonesia can actually follow the Singapore model of economic management and emerge as a successful neutral player in the region. It is in Asia's interest to have a strong ASEAN leadership that is pragmatic in the region.

Focusing on latent shifts in manufacturing will help a long way for Indonesia to become a more industrialized country. Indonesia is blessed in natural resources. You are going in the right direction; just keep at it and all the best for the new capital city in Kalimantan.:-)

While we Indians are not a part of the RCEP due to geopolitical reasons, I sure hope that there is more military-to-military cooperation between our two countries. Anti-piracy and disaster management are obvious areas, but also joint war-games and multilateral exercises are needed to ensure inter-operability and confidence building measures between our countries.

This is the news where the first vessel is launched in 2012. From the news we also know that the reason the shipbuilder is located in Banyuwangi, East Java, is because Liza Lundin, PT Lundin CEO, is born in Banyuwangi.

Biggest shipbuilders in Indonesia are mainly located in Batam island, Sumatra and also Surabaya, East Java. There is also one big shipbuilder in Tanjung Priok Jakarta (PT Dok Kodja Bahari/DKB)

It looks really good. I am surprised and all it needs is to be heavily equipped...
