China does this only sporadically around "paracel islands" when the fishing boats are too close to our islands. Normally Chinese sea police would strip their fishing tools and fish only.

We used to sell those confiscated boat to our fisherman, but in the procces there were colaboration between naughty state aparatus and illegal fishing company so the boat return to the illegal foreign fisherman to steal fish in our sea again, so we decide to sink those ship instead now
