Indo-Israeli missile successfully test-fired: DRDO chief

can this be used to kill AWACS & mid air refuelers ?

It cant be used as Anti Awacs or Anit mid refuller. Pls check its range its just 70 Kms while Awacs and mid air refullers not be in that close proximity of ground or sea based vehicles/Warships. Anti awacs should have atlest 200-250 Kms range.
IAF is already operating A2A missiles which has greater range than Barack 8.

Why then its called LR-SAM ? with LR -SAM we can make dust of SAB-ericeye & IL76 fuellers...

AWACS and transport aircrafts are easier targets when they are within range but usually they stay away from enemy air defences.

BTW excellent new from DRDO, Barak-8 will be the future backbone of Indian air defence. Its very advanced and developed with modern technologies.

This year is so far good for Indian armed forces many new......

1) PAK FA for IAF (first flight January)
2) LCH for IA and IAF (first flight March)
3) Barak-2/8 for IN and IAF (first test May)

and many more to come....

And lastly the Indian navy launching its new generation stealth frigates. INS Shavik i think it was called.

Gr8 news..

India should also tap into the Israeli expertise in ABM missiles and in air-air missiles.

India should focus on local R&D efforts for semiconductor fab. There is nothing Israel can provide India other than that.

India should stop running for foreign expertise and finally focus on local R&D institutions which are *******.
