This is a voluntary scheme in which Temple would earn interest ,if they are willing to put their gold with banks;not an open loot scheme that was promulgated by Kerala government in which there was talk of straight up confiscating Temple's gold.

Then it can be auctions in India, gold brought for the money and then the temple trust can hand over that gold to the govt. for safe keeping and a healthy interest.

Well but the royal house trust will eventually be the one to make the decision on what to do with the gold.
Anyways the gold donated by public and gold preserved, to any temples, for years have different significance. Antique treasures of gold should be preserved either in museum or vaults, while donated jewellery may be sent to the banks.

for what?? it is the property of the temple and and we don't agree to take that from the temples. may i ask you a question? did Muslims and Christians will ever allow the gov. to take property of mosque or church? did they allow the gov. to regulate and control the money in churches and mosques?



most of the golds in temples are from the rulers on that place. they use temple to hide their wealth form brithish raj.

What happens in the next 4 years if god forbid it goes out of power? Do you think if the gold value should zoom the temples will ever get back their gold? You should remember people do not give the gold to the trusts that run the temple. The gold is gifted to Gods. The trustees have no right on the gold and they cannot auction or monetize it.

Who are you to ask how I should spend my money? I can give it to god or to the anthill on the other end of my lane. I pay taxes to the govt. The gold given to my temple is to be used for propagation of my culture, my faith, and my traditions. It is not a money to be used for secular purposes.

I am nobody to ask you how you spend your money. The question is once you have given money to a temple, do you have any say over how they spend it?

Temples don't propagate Hindu culture in the sense that Churches do, so if propagation of Hindusism is your intent, you'd be better off donating money to organizations that explicitly do so.

Actually, the first thing that GoI should do is ask money from Churches, particularly as its likely to be money from outside India.

I am aware of your argument, but for the govt. to accept the gold from the Temple is an acknowledgement (in law) of the ownership rights of the temple.

Its like a bank deposit or your Fixed deposit. One your money is put into the bank, you can always worry that you will not get it back, but the financial system in India does not work that way.

IF the govt. provides a Bond for the gold deposited, then that bond can be reclaimed any time they want. We do have Laws in India.

If we cannot trust our own laws, then what can we trust ? Everything then is anyway lost.

As a Keralite Hindu we cant give a sure confirmation .
But materials in that temple has archeological value .So they cant melt it .But it can used as reserve.

it is a wet dream of modi. i don't know about the other temples in india but i'm 100% sure that modi won't get the gold in Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple.
