India's ISI Obsession | Is ISI really that Effective?

In my opinion the ISI is the greatest intelligence agency in the world today. They ran circles around the CIA in Afghanistan. Considering the limited budget they have (in comparison to other agencies around the world) and the amount of work they have to do one does have to overlook some failures especially since they are guarding one of the most volatile and dynamic countries in the world with enemies all over the place.

The great thing is, the more it blames ISI, the more proud and feel good factor it makes for Pakistanis, how incompetent India's RAW and intelligence agencies are.

And hence more funds ISI gets from Pakistani successive governments.

Who knows anyway? They do well for the funds.. and they've more often been used inside their own country.. RAW has a different MO...more targeted for effect rather than generalised mayhem. Post I.K Gujral..it pulled everything out of pakistan. Only now are we beginning to establish a proper network again...with doval at the reigns..we'll need to watch this space for more.

Why is it that India blames almost anything and everything bad that happens in India, whether on the easter front or northern or western front, on ISI ?

Is ISI really that effective ? Because the frequency with which Indian media and their public and politicians blame ISI for so many things, it seems ISI is deeply and widely entrenched within Indian society, across the country.

Let's have everyone's views.

ISI has been printing t-shirts in India.


The point being, for all the ills happening in the Indian society, they need someone outside to put the blame on. So naturally, the choice is ISI. Soon you will find that India blames National Security Intelligence (NSI) of Bangladesh for all the ills in the north east region.

ISI lacks considerable tech. Most of their penetration is HUMINT and its specifically limited in or around South Asia.

True that but the most valuable form of intel is HUMINT...even the CIA is suffering due to their over reliance on SIGINT and ELINT etc and not focusing enough in HUMINT.
