India's DRDO inaugurates aeronautical test range

India's state-owned Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) inaugurated in Chitradurga, near Bangalore, its first aeronautical test range (ATR) aimed at testing indigenously designed weapon systems and aerial platforms.

Spread across 4,029 acres, the ATR will feature a 2 km-long runway, along with tracking and control equipment, according to a 28 May statement by India's Press Information Bureau (PIB).

The test facility, which cost INR2.9 billion (USD45 million) to build, will be equipped with an air traffic display system with remote control radar in addition to ground telemetry, mission video display, and range operational communication systems.

The radar centre houses the primary Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR), said the PIB.

hahaha they are lying about it with all world they are making

how the heck did they build/test all the aircraft then?

You serious? There are several aircraft manufacturing facilities here with their own more dedicated airfields. For example HAL airport Bangalore.

This is the first dedicated test facility for UAVs also a rather secretive one.
