India's 197 Copter Deal Suspended, Indefinitely.

How has the LUH deal been "poisioned" by the AW-101 deal?? They are from two seperate nations/companies. Where is the correlation?

Even the AW-101 seems to be an internal mess in Italy that has somehow wrongly implicated India.

In a few months the truth will come out.

Like I said earlier a Senior Indian Army officer offered to influence the selection process in favor of AgustaWestland when they were still in the 197 LU helicopter competition with Kamov, Eurocopter and Sikorsky. This finding if substantiated will prove the selection process for the 197 LU helicopter involved corruptible officer(s) and the eventual winner may have been selected for reasons other than performance. This based on recent reports is a risk the Defense minister is unwilling to take in the current environment and may explain the unexpected decision to suspend the deal indefinitely.

Friends, the HAL LUH is just on paper, and it will take several years to make it,pass the IOC,FOC rounds and go in for serial production... the SRSAM deal signed today worth $6 billion, while for 197 helos, the deal was way less than $1 billion and the army helicopters needs to be replaced ASAP... Kamov was an outstanding performer in the mountains and we should have definitely gone for it

Good News.... This tender should have been scrapped long back. Upgraded Cheetals can do the job till LUH enters production.

$500 million to be precise, i don't find any logic behind mothballing the deal which was going smoothly. Though according to few reports, none of the choppers satisfied the criteria.

If we take 10M$ per heli, than 2B$ for deal, while infrastructure cost is higher. While LUH cost will be low in twice of sense.

SAMs are more essential than helicoters, you also know this very well.

go for indeginious. and also involve private sector. Benifits are. No need to do factory production work done by the DRDO Institutes like for the making plane why the drdo making each and every part better to give the miscellaneous part production to the private which are fast and effective in doing their job. well the cancellation of deals are not good at all for any means. like the bofors we are heardly learn lesson from those chapters.

welll one thing can be done for the permanent solution, :hang2: hang the responsibles. this will leave the messages for those who are taking the bribe lightly. though I personally believe bribe is no problem then cancellation of the deal. we can not cancel any deal. there is the lesson of the Boforce.

ever flown in 'upgraded' cheetals? or for that matter in cheetah in high altitude regions of the north? then you would not be posting this. You cant have strong engines to compensate for new frames and engines on an old airframe design. Aerodynamics play hell in teh cross winds and blizzardic conditions in north.

On the other side, 197 LUH, licence produced with ToT and offsets are way more important than 22 Apaches and 15 Chinooks, produced in the US, no ToT limited offsets. So by simple logic, if there would be an issue with the budget, these should have been put on hold and not the LUH.
