A new report from a state minister in Andhra Pradesh has called for the Indian government's help in rescuing women stuck in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries.

The women from the state of Andhra Pradesh (AP) in India are suffering, and AP’s minister has called upon India’s national government to help with the crisis.

AP's Minister for Non-Resident Indian Welfare, Palle Raghunatha Reddy, recently wrote a letter to India’s Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj, detailing the plight of women in the state—they are being “sold like products in a retail shop” for prices such as 400,000 rupees ($6,000 USD) to Saudi Arabia and 1 to 2 million rupees ($15,000 USD) to Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait.

According to India Times, women from villages in AP were often deceived when seeking job opportunities in these countries, where “recruitment agents” would take advantage of them.

Women stuck in these countries in the Middle East now hope for the Indian government’s assistance to be rescued, requiring money, travel documents, and free travel.

Reddy specifically noted that, “embassy officials in Gulf countries should be asked to interfere and provide necessary help in terms of food, clothing and shelter to those in distress.”

Indian government officials will allegedly visit these countries to investigate the claims in the coming weeks.

This despicable behavior toward women continues to demonstrate the misogynistic attitudes ingrained in certain Middle Eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia—hopefully the Indian government will come to the aid of their women as soon as possible.

And workers from South Asia aren't being sold like cattle and put to work like slaves too? The treatment of workers, and minorities in many places in the Middle East is horrific, even to Pakistanis who aren't that advanced as a society see it as very barbaric at times, and that is saying something...

All Pak or any worker who comes here comes with his own will not sold ,All have kafeels and are not subject to abuse as Labour laws are here to help and support ,this case is all about women being sold resulted in new gen coming from Indian women neither Arabic nor Indian

The only good thing Zia did was he abolished Maid/Servant visas for Pakistanis.

Selling women to the Gulf is a Hyderabadi thing!
