Khalistani terrorist Pamma nabbed by Portugal police
The Portugal police have nabbed Khalistani terrorist Paramjeet Singh alias Pamma, a key conspirator of the 2010 high-velocity twin bomb blasts in Patiala and Ambala and the mastermind of the 2009 killing of Rulda Singh, head of the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat, a wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), according to Punjab Police sources.
Based in England on ‘political asylum’ since 1994-95, Pamma, 42, along with his family, was staying at a hotel in Portugal, when he was detained on Friday night. Pamma already had an Interpol Red Corner notice against him that helped nab the fugitive.
The Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), the premier intelligence agency, has confirmed Pamma’s detention in Portugal to Punjab Police. The state intelligence wing has stepped up efforts through central agencies for extradition of Pamma on the lines of Abu Salem, the underworld don who was also nabbed at Lisbon in Portugal.
“The conspiracy to kill Rulda Singh was hatched in the UK by terrorist Pamma, whose associates in terror activities were arrested from Thailand and Malaysia last year,” a senior Punjab Police officer credited for trailing terrorists on foreign soil told Hindustan Times.
Pamma became the lynchpin of terrorist-related activities in Thailand and provided infrastructural support in South-East Asia to Punjab terrorists.
According to police records, the SAS Nagar district resident Pamma was allegedly involved in petty crimes until 1992. After leaving India in 1994-95 he visited Pakistan on numerous occasions and became the main fundraiser of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
Initially, he was close to Wadhawa Singh. Later, Pamma joined hands with Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) chief Jagtar Singh Tara, the dreaded Pakistan-based terrorist and one of the assassins of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh.
“After the arrest of Tara in Thailand in January, Pamma was trying to become the KTF chief as he was the main organiser of the KTF activities,” police sources said.
Rulda Singh was shot at on July 28, 2009, in Patiala and succumbed to his injuries on August 15, 2009.
“Pamma had handpicked UK-based Gursharan Singh and Piara Singh to carry out the shooting, while the recce and planning in India were done by top Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) terrorist Ramandeep Singh Goldy, along with Darshan Singh and Jagmohan Singh,” a police source said.
Pamma also remained mentor of Goldy—also wanted in Rulda Singh’s killing and already arrested from Malaysia—and was the main link with Tara.
The Patiala and Ambala bomb explosions were masterminded by Pamma and Goldy.
Pamma, sources say, had also visited Thailand to reactivate and finance modules of self-styled chief of Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) Harminder Singh alias Mintoo, who was arrested in 2014 from Thailand along with his key aide Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi.
It was close on the heels of arresting Goldy in Malaysia after escaping from Thailand that Mintoo, 47, and Gopi, 27, were nabbed in Thailand
