New Delhi (CNN) -- An Indian army corporal suspected of sexually assaulting a 14-month-old girl over the weekend has been taken into custody, Bangalore police said.

Cpl. Naik Dharamveer, 32, was arrested based on a complaint filed by the baby's parents, who had left the child in his care.

Panaji — Indian police said Tuesday they had arrested a man in the tourist state of Goa for allegedly raping a four-year-old Iranian girl holidaying with her mother.

Goan police arrested the 32-year-old man on Monday after the alleged attack on the girl on January 22 in the northern village of Arpora, where he lived and the Iranians were staying, police inspector Paresh Naik said.

The girl told her mother about the incident on Monday prompting her to lodge a police complaint.

"Police began search operations immediately and nabbed him," despite the man's attempts to escape on learning of the complaint, Naik said.

India's record on sexual violence has been in the spotlight since protests erupted more than a year ago over the treatment of women following the fatal gang-rape of a student in New Delhi.

Though cases of sexual violence against foreigners are not new, the attention on rape in the national and international media has shone on a light on the frequency of attacks against women across the country.

The vast majority of the victims are Indians. But some of the attacks involve tourists, such as a 51-year-old Dutch women who was gang-raped in the capital earlier this month.

In December, Goan police arrested a yoga teacher accused of raping one of his holidaying German students.

Earlier this month, Britain and France revised their travel advisories for India to warn visitors about the risk of sexual attacks.

"Women travellers should exercise caution when travelling in India even if they are travelling in a group," the British advisory posted on the government website said.

The French foreign office also advised its citizens to exercise "utmost caution" in an advisory updated.

Even a 4 yrs old girls couldn't be spared by the rapist in India when she travel to India with her family. Women stay away from vacation in India, better to be safe than sorry.

who told you to come to India? We dont pressure any one to come to India.Only visit our country if need,we dont care .Where are you coming from country 'Utopia'.
Pathetic.
Dont jump too much about racist media.we report all incidents to our media. So authorities can take action and your racist western media also get that..It is good. While in China
dont know what happening?Probably Utopian Country .In US with 30 crore populations recorded more rape incidents than India

India is the only country in the world where rapist and paedophiles live. The word rape and rapists were made after reports of sexual assaults on women in India which was previously unheard of in the whole world.

Their usual method of degrading another emerging country is also work here.Any type of violence is condemnable. But when they
point a finger towards us that idiots dont know rest 4 fingers point towards them. When China comes it is threat and Human rights violation ,When Indian comes it is molestation and corruption.
Their west countries are some type of Utopian. We all know how US soldiers treat their Iraqi prisoners.both women and men
