Delhi to Agra @160 kmph: Trial run of India's fastest train successful​

New Delhi: The Indian Railways on Thursday successfully conducted the trial run of the country's fastest train, which will cover the distance between Delhi and Agra in targeted 90 minutes at a speed of 160 kilometres per hour.

The semi-high speed train was flagged off from platform number six of the New Delhi Railway Station earlier this morning and reached Agra at around 1 pm. The train, however, took 100 minutes to cover the distance today as against the targeted 90 minutes.

The semi high-speed train will reduce the current travel time between Delhi and Agra from 120 minutes to 90 minutes. At present, the Bhopal Shatabdi Express is India's fastest train that runs at 150 kmph between Delhi and Agra stretch.

Thanks to a populist freeze in rail fares by the UPA virtually nothing was spent on upgrading the rail infrastructure.

The tracks are old & overused.

We need better tracks , signalling systems & rakes. Not to mention level crossings. I shudder to think of the repercussions of a tractor on a rail road crossing with such trains hurtling by.

A good move, I believe similar trains are proposed on other sections too. Delhi - Jaipur, Delhi - Chandigarh, Delhi - Lucknow maybe.

na, from video they definitely LHB coaches, and I dont think ICF coaches are meant for such high speed, there suspension is not so much good against LHB.

Who said that under license?, actually IR planning to replace the all ICF coaches with LHB, these coaches are specially design for Indian environment, and is manufactured totally ingeniously, and all the new trains getting only LHB coaches.

The LHB rakes are being manufactured at the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) at Kapurtala with technology from Germany.
