In a big boost to green mobility in India, the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) will set up over 10,000 electric vehicle charging stations across the country in the next three years, said the state-run firm’s chairman S M Vaidya.

“We will be setting up 10,000 EV charging stations in the next three years,” said Vaidya, reports ANI.

He added, “2000 EV charging stations will be established in the next 12 months and another 8000 in the next two years to achieve target of 10,000 EV charging stations in the next three years”.

Earlier on Tuesday (2 November), Indian Oil rolled out the cleaner and greener diesel XtraGreen to 126 fuel stations across 63 cities in the country.

Speaking during the launch of the green fuel offering, Vaidya said, “XtraGreen is in sync with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s commitment to steer India towards a greener tomorrow, constant reduction of carbon emission and gradual achievement of the net-zero goal by 2070”.

“This also underlines IndianOil’s unwavering commitment to provide niche and specialized solutions to the environmentally sensitive market segments while continuously enhancing the user experience,” he added.

EV charging stations ki pojne wale video/picture kab ay ge market me ?

On a serious note, this is really good news for India because.

1. India have companies and infrastructure to design and make EV's. They are actually already at a good pace in this field. Local production will reduce prices, add the government subsidy and they are good.

2. It will largely reduce Indian oil imports. They just need to make more.electricity..which is also not much of an issue for India as it is already producing Solar electricity for as low as 2+- INR. Good days ahead for India.

BPCL Bets Big On EV Charging Infrastructure, To Set Up 7,000 Charging Stations Across India

State-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is betting big on electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and has chalked out a plan to offer charging stations at around 7,000 petrol pumps over next few years.

The company has distribution network involving 19,000+ retail outlets (fuel stations) across the country. The EV charging infrastructure will provide the company a new business opportunity as well as a hedge against the risk of displacement of auto fuels, BPCL said in a statement.

The EV ecosystem in India is expected to experience a robust growth in the coming years in India as auto manufacturers turn to electric vehicles to attract new consumers, it said.

BPCL, the second largest oil marketing company (OMC) in India, has a nationwide network of fuel stations and distributors that can help in offering the EV charging facility in a short span of time compared to companies that are yet to build the physical infrastructure of retail outlets, the company said.

“Over the next few years, we are aiming at reaching the count of 7,000 stations to support the growing EV industry and these stations would be known as ‘Energy Stations’,” said Arun Kumar Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Petroleum.

“EV charging infrastructure is one of the five focused segments that BPCL is working on along with Petchem, Gas, Consumer Retailing, Renewables and Biofuels that will serve the energy needs of the nation,” Singh said.

Too less and too long wait. 10,000 for a country like India is nothing. And most are doing it in cities. This is pointless, we need more in highways. everyone has charging option at home/apt/offices.

It would be nice if you can learn to count and Add.

IO has 10,000
BPCL has 7000
Reliance has 1,350

Put together is 18,350 Petrol Pump with charging stations.

EVRE and Park+ is to set up 10,000 EV charging stations across India by 2023

Tata Power is planning to set up 10,000 Charging stations

HPCL is putting up 5000 Charging stations.

Put together , that is 25,000 + 18350 = 43,350 EV Charging station.

That apart,

Delhi Govt. has allowed home charging stations for business purpose and is offer subsidy to the first 30,000 EV Charging stations.

This model will be replicated by almost all states in India in time.

I would consider something substantial if the number was like 10x more or something.

obviously it's going to increase with time. they can't just plop stations all at once without any insight on where EVs actually are, can they?

brag when u get it done, indians post anything will, going to, to, plan are laughing stock

Plus that number of charging stations is ridiculous low for a large area. A city like Shenzhen in China has that many, already installed
