Indian navy planning to make 3 carrier for 1.6 lakh corers

. . .
The article mentions certain "American technology"; do we know what that is yet or can we suspect it to be the EMALS as mentioned by previous reports? Both the Rafale and F/A-18 should* be able to take off from STOBAR carriers, although with a hampered fuel/weapons load.

*Unconfirmed but theoretically possible

. . .
It doesn't sound much if it is going to equip EMALS and AAG from US.
The US Nimitz class carriers cost over $11bn each and 3 carriers for 1.6 lakh cr which is over $20bn is still a lot for a country like India. Moreover, I don't think US would offer EMALS tech unless we procure F-18 for IN or F-16 for IAF and I am highly skeptical they would offer significant ToT for those jets except for some nut and bolt job.

I would prefer Rafales anytime over US weapons systems which would also help us in maintaining uniformity and commonality among our fleets and would cost logistical and maintenance nightmares

maths was taught to me by mullah!! :agree::agree:
It happens, at times we do miss out a number or two :D
Indian themselves are confused by their own numbering system too? By the way, it's lot of money for one carrier.
Its is $20.6bill at a conversion rate of 63.4/$. Do the math yourself, nobody is confused. And yes its a huge amount but it will be spread across a decade.

Check your calculations boy, Rs 1.6 lakh crore is roughly equal to $25 billion with conversion rate of Rs 63.4 per $!!!
