Here's reason why :

We have a Akula II already, we paid for it's completion and can buy it after lease is over. Same will and is being done for Ibris, another Akula II hull, submarine.

Arihant at least 3 -4 under construction with 1 completed. These pakistanis claim they can make one by 2020 with a $2bn budget! A nuke sub costs 4 bn$ to make , double that money to create technology. It took us 3 decades Chinese 4 decades.

Nukes in China is legal as its part of P5. This means that any of the p5 can export nuclear related technology to one another. Its illegal to export nuclear technology to India and require special exceptions from US president.

Thats why you export your design to PAK and then it reach Libya ? Now its not P5 that make the , now India make the law P5 follow it.

Doesn't matter, its still illegal to sell nuclear related materials from a P5 to a none P5 country. But between the P5, its ok.

India has got India specific concessions from NSG . So we have no problem .

Forget about these plans now.The fact is due to shore up the rupee rbi is gonna use a lot of forex reserves and its gonna be a nightmare importing anything at 65 per dollar thats poised to go to 70 pretty soon.So its high time we make our own stuff.It may not be very good in the beginning for sure but atleast we will start.And global slowdown is a norm now.It will be happenning every 5 years or so,therefore countries that import huge amount of stuff other than petrol are bound to suffer.And yes i would like us to manufacture more scorpenes (with better sensors than first 6) than open another tender for project 75i or whatever.And pls for god's sake fit an aip on it
