Indian Army to deploy M777 and K9 howitzers at Kashmir border

What do you think 155mm means?

More interestingly, what is the point of mobile systems in a terrain of that sort. I see usefullness in terms of avoiding counter battery fire but as such it depends on their road networks. These things are good moving on mostly flat terrain, not sure how mobility is going to be maxmized in that geography

The haunting memories of Kargil still looming somewhere.

Even small guns are not carried along Indo-China border. Artillery is a long way. All Indian weapons would be procured in the name of China and used against Pakistan.
We all knew that, but ar least its now coming from the horses mouth

A single bullet hadn't been fired on the Indo china border for the last 30 years.

More often then not, new weapon systems will come into play on a very hot border where they may be used anytime and get tested as well.

M777 is for India's Eastern border not for western.

Vajra-T Howitzer is about 45 Ton. The speed of the gun movement is 60-70km/ hour. These guns are likely to be deployed along the western border with Pakistan.
