I have posted this before, but for those interested-
Legend-
Black mark- the nullah, probable point of infiltration.
Crimson mark- abandoned buildings ("Shala Bhata") in a clearing with foliage starting from 200 meters on both sides.
The current operation has two broad objectives. Keep the infiltrators contained and ergo in the cross fire in the clearing and the abandoned buildings. Secondly dominate the foliage around the area to ensure that small groups cannot execute a break out. The reason that these infiltrators have been contained is because the IA operated in a timely manner, otherwise the infiltrators had no intention of hunkering down in the village. They were using it as a way-point and resting place due to virtue of the area providing built up shelter sans any habitation on our side- before continuing their journey deeper in to Kashmir to either lie dormant or execute attacks on targets in the hinterland. They didn't ingress to grab 7-8 dilapidated building just a 150-200 meters into our territory. The challenge though is that having cornered them so close to the LOC we must be cautious and wary lest the regulars on the other side decide to utilize the dynamic situation present in the area to inflict some casualties on us in a manner which will be deniable due to the chaotic nature of any exchange of fire.
