A country’s projection of power relies in large part upon its military capabilities. Successfully being able to project and wield that power is a key diplomatic asset. The army with the best soldiers prevails. While the American, Russian and Israeli soldier battle-gears are known around the world as the most advanced, the Indian Army’s two-phase ‘Future Soldier’ program, earlier known as F-INSAS (Future Infantry Soldier As A System), will make our soldiers the most fiercely equipped soldiers on the planet.

F-INSAS has been taken up to equip Indian infantry with advanced weaponry, communication network and instant access to information on the battlefield. This program is similar to the future soldier programs of other nations. F-INSAS includes a fully networked all-terrain, all-weather personal-equipment platform, enhanced firepower and mobility for the digitalised battlefield of the future. The weight carried by soldiers will need to be reduced by at least 50%.

The fully integrated Infantry of tomorrow will be equipped with mission-oriented equipment integrated with his buddy soldier team, the sub-unit, as also the overall C4ISTAR represents C4 (command, control, communications, computers) and ISTAR (intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance) system. The intention of this program is to equip the soldier to ensure a dramatic increase in his lethality, survivability and mobility while making the soldier “a self-contained fighting machine”

The Indian Army has decided to divide the Future Infantry Soldier As a System (F-INSAS) program in favor of two separate projects. The new program will have two components – one arming the modern infantry soldier with the best available assault rifle, carbines and personal equipment such as the helmet and bulletproof vests and the second component is the Battlefield Management Systems (BMS). The bifurcation has been done on account of the budgetary convenience.

Arming the modern infantry soldier:

Under this, our ‘special forces’ commandos will be loaded with the world’s best under-barrel grenade launcher assault rifles, carbines and hand grenades. They will be protected with equipment such as non-flammable, waterproofed, hard ballistic protected and bulletproof helmets, visors and vests. The new attire will enable commandos to carry extra loads and resist the impact of nuclear, chemical, radiological, and biological warfare. The uniforms will also be fitted with external and internal oxygen supply, fire-proof knee and elbow pads and hand gloves and laser eye protection goggles.

Battlefield Management Systems (BMS):

Our commandos will be equipped with Palmtop GPS navigation devices, world’s most advanced satellite phones, Thermal Imager, Integrated Multifunction Sight Device Night Vision Equipment, Laser Range-Finder, Digital Magnetic Compass, Colour Charge-Coupled-Device (CCD) Camera, Integrated Electro-Optical Surveillance, Fire Control Systems and advanced GPS receivers. And he list of sensors our soldiers will be carrying is just mind blowing – infrared sensors, electro-optical sensors, thermal sensors, spectroscopic sensors, electromagnetic and radio frequency sensors. What’s even better is that this entire kickass technology is weatherproof and all-terrain tested.

The program strongly relies on the indigenous DRDO-led development of this technology with massive support from Israel. Once equipped with tech and advanced weaponry, ISF will be able to operate virtually in any and every sort of battle scenario.

Add Israeli Blue Dome with this also Developed by IAI

IAI has recently unveiled its Blue Dome system, which offers tactical identification of friendly forces and provides a solution to one of the primary needs in the conduct of operations: prompt, reliable identification of friendly forces and their respective locations, down to the individual trooper level. By providing this solution, the system improves the understanding of the battlefield and prevents fratricide (“friendly fire”) situations. Blue Dome was introduced for the first time during the AUSA exhibition held in Washington in October 2015. Israel Defense has learned that the system is currently entering operational trials by several IDF units.

The theory of operation of the Blue Dome system is based on a personal transponder (small, lightweight device) carried by each trooper. This device transmits encrypted information which includes data on the trooper’s identity and whereabouts. When unidentified forces are spotted in a given area, an encrypted eye-safe laser interrogator is directed at those forces. Such interrogators are incorporated in various platforms, for example – commanders’ binoculars and the weapon sight systems of tanks or aircraft. If the force spotted is a friendly one, the transponders carried by those troopers will transmit a detailed response over a radio frequency.

Ran Aharoni of IAI told Israel Defense that “The system was developed in view of the lessons of the recent conflicts in which IDF was involved, for the purpose of reducing the number of casualties by accidental friendly fire to an absolute minimum.” Aharoni had served as a paratrooper officer in the past and according to him, “If I had such a system at my disposal years ago, many errors would have been prevented.”

The Blue Dome system operates independently and enables prompt, covert identification with no need for time-consuming coordination procedures using radio communication or navigation devices (as opposed to present procedures), which could also expose the location of the interrogating party to hostile elements. The transponders may be carried on the trooper’s combat vest or uniform as well as on his helmet, and guarantee the system’s high reliability and immunity to transmission interception or jamming and to manipulation/abuse by the enemy.

The prompt identification of friendly forces shortens and simplifies situational awareness on the dynamic battlefield. The system prevents friendly fire situations and allows the operators to focus their attention on such missions as spotting the enemy forces and employing fire assets against them.

The Blue Dome IFF system was not the only product unveiled by IAI at AUSA. IAI also unveiled their GroundPoint system – a tactical, lightweight geolocation targeting system that interfaces with any ground observation system for the purpose of generating accurate map references of targets to be attacked. The system pinpoints targets for GPS-guided munitions and can also improve the scoring accuracy of statistical ordnance and support special operations forces. The capabilities of the GroundPoint system will enable the user to minimize collateral damage and avoid hitting uninvolved parties.

The system, which is already being sold to clients, is operational and used by observation units in target location missions to ranges of up to 20 km with an accuracy of 2-3 meters and a high degree of reliability.

The GroundPoint system was designed so that it may be adapted to any existing ground observation system, including tripod-mounted binoculars, using a simple and easy to operate interface. Additionally, it may be supplied as a complete observation system that includes a backpack with a tripod, observation unit, harnesses, an energy supply unit, etc.

The system utilizes several innovative algorithms that enable – following the preparation of a suitable infrastructure – effective operation on the ground by the troopers for the purpose of generating an accurate map reference that may be used to establish a common language for all of the forces involved in the combat operation, at the required level of accuracy.

Boaz Levi, Executive VP and GM of IAI’s Missile Systems & Space Group, added: “We regard the GroundPoint system as a complementary and essential system for the range of munitions offered by IAI. The system is expected to change the operational language from a map reference-based language to a language of accurate spotting for the benefit of completing the mission successfully. The process of generating the map reference should be carried out on the ground and enable the closure of attack circles within a short time. The GroundPoint system fulfills this operational need very effectively while using an innovative and creative approach.”

I'd highly doubt that; if the Indian Army has a hard time procuring basic helmets and vests - then how are going to chase a future soldier program?

Most of those pictures posted are of the Indian Special Forces and even those equipment shown can be considered rare in India's SF arsenal.

I'm surprised you didn't actually share pictures of the demos.

Mostly you are right, but it is not for the lack of resources or money, but the red tapery.

NORINCO, one of China's 12 military-industrial complexes, has all the goodies you guys want for a modern army:

:D:lol::azn:
Most of what was shown in the video was armored vehicle trials, I guess that is very relevant future solider program.

Besides, if India has to procure something we would go for quality and originality, two parameters where China's performance is ahead of Europe, Russia and US.

Hence India is most likely going to go for your products

Nothing down here
