Bangalore: The Indian Air force is set to
colour the skies once again this year on the
Indian Air force day on 8th October 2012. It
marks the 80th anniversary, established since
8th Oct 1932. The Indian Air force is the air
arm of India Armed forces and combats in
the aerial warfare, to protect the country in
any external or internal threat as per the
constitution. The Commander in Chief of the
India Air Force is The President of India, at
present which is Pranab Mukherjee.
The present Air Commodore Sanjeev Kapoor
addressed the media and said every year this
day is celebrated with enthusiasm and fervor.
Kapoor said On the occasion of its 80th
anniversary, we are organizing various
functions this week for our air warriors and
their families. On the October 3, we organized
a friendly exhibition match between 50
independent Para brigade army and air
force, reported by Newstrack India.On the
8th Oct there is going to be air display by
diverse aircrafts, as a part of the Air Force
Day Parade and Investiture Ceremony at
Hindan Air force station. The rehearsals
started from 1st October 2012.
IAF officials confirmed that this years
display will not have an aerobatic team, but
said that other aircraft, including fighters and
recently acquired transport aircraft, will
perform a fly-past. Wazirpur bridge,
Karwalnagar, Afjalpur, Hindan, Shamli ,
Jiwana , Chandinagar, Hindon, Hapur,
Philkua, Ghaziabad, Hindan are the areas
where the aircraft will fly at low levels.
The air display will begin with sky divers of
Akash Ganga team bearing flag dropping out
of AN-32 aircraft as per Defence Forum of
India.

commencement of the Air Force Day Parade
will be marked by fly past of 'Ensign'
formation.Chakra' formation comprising
three Mi-25/35 in Vic formation would
follow. This will be followed by 'Hercules'
formation, followed by 'Spectrum' formation
in 'Echelon' position. The fighter fly-past (will
be led by three Jaguar aircraft in Vic
formation. This will be followed by a Su-30
MKI aircraft carrying out low level aerobatic
display as grand finale to the ceremony.
This year the IAF officials confirmed that in
the air display the aerobatic team will not
take part due to the last years crash during
practice session which damaged the aircraft
badly. However recently acquired aircrafts,
along with fighters will present fly-past as
per Indian Express.
The IAF has participated in three wars with
Pakistan, china and the Kargil clash since
Independence. Other major operation
embarked by IAF includes Operation Vijay-the
invasion of Goa, Operation Cactus and
Operation Meghdoot.
The IAF has taken an active participation in
United Nations peacekeeping missions. The
Indian Air Force with the Indian Armed
Forces provides aid in disaster relief. It has
provided relief in two occasions, during the
Gujarat cyclone in 1998 and in 2004 during
the Tsunami.
The Indian Air force day is a day for all of us
to celebrate to cheer the force and the
aviators who are at service for the country.
