A 19-year-old B Com student allegedly killed herself by jumping from the terrace of a paying guest accommodation near Domlur bridge on Friday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Bhavya S, a resident of Murugeshpalya and a native of the Kolar district. Though her parents said she ended her life as she was debarred by her college for copying in an exam, the police said the college clarified that they had not debarred her.

Jeevan Bima Nagar police said that Bhavya, who was doing her first-year B.Com at Jyoti Nivas College in Koramangala, was caught copying in her semester examination around 2 pm on Friday. The invigilator informed the management and stopped Bhavya from writing the exam.
On her way back home, Bhavya called her sister over the phone and informed her that she planned to end her life as she was debarred by the college. She then alighted from a BMTC bus near Domlur bridge, walked into paying guest accommodation and climbed to the fifth-floor terrace. She jumped from there around 4.30 pm. Passersby saw her lying in a pool of blood and alerted the police.

A senior officer said they gathered details about Bhavya based on her ID card. They contacted her parents and informed them about her death.

“We have not found a death note but a case of unnatural death has been registered based on her parents’ complaint,” the police said.

The parents said Bhavya ended her life as the college had debarred her. But the college management said they only stopped her from writing Friday’s exam and allowed her to appear for other subjects.

“We have recovered Bhavya’s mobile phone and are ascertaining whether there is any other reason behind her act,” the officer added.

Bhavya also sent a WhatsApp message to her sister Divya in which she mentioned how her parents took care of all her needs and during the Covid-19 infection. Bhavya’s father works as labourer with a private firm.

The college spokesperson to DH, “The girl was caught copying in the language subject examination on Friday. We took her to the college counsellor and counselled her for more than two hours.”

“During counselling, we made it clear that she can appear for the rest of the exams confidently and advised her not to indulge in unethical practices. She even apologised and requested us not to inform her parents,” the spokesperson said.

Jamahir's comment : So another human life murdered by the unscientific, non-empathetic and ruthless Indian education system which exists in the most Capitalist society in human history - India. Firstly, the Indian socio-economic system hasn't made such a human right as education free so the family / guardian has to cough up money to enter the student in the system so that puts so many unnecessary socio-economic dilemmas in the life of the guardians - what to sacrifice so that the student gets into the "education" system. Secondly, there are not enough educational institutes and those that exist have unevenly distributed teaching quality ( quality is loosely described here ) which two things creates a caste system among the institutes where the "higher quality" institute demands more money from the student to enter and more exam marks from the student's preceding grades as if the countless high-exam-marks-taking students in the last 75 years of independent India have made India into a harmonious, advanced and evolved society and have 20 years ago established humanity's first settlement on Mars. Thirdly, because the guardians of the student stay in the same extremely Capitalist, dog-eat-dog socio-economic system of India, most of them get pressured by neighbors and relatives into another stupid and futile competition of whose children get the highest marks in exams in the most fashionable course ( computer engineering has been one in India for the last two decades ) and then another stupid competition after the so-called education years as to whose child / student gets into the the best and top-paying employment never mind if the student has other interests and wants to join another course or drop out to start a business, and never mind if a guardian-forced student in some "high paying" job remains in middle class poverty who buys all his amenities on loan and pays its off through his monthly wages but cannot help himself and his friends in starting a business of their own instead of being in wage slavery. Fourthly, what good is the great Indian family system if parents drive their children to suicide because of some stupid exam in some stupid course in a stupid education system ? Lastly, how dare this girl's college's management "counsel her to abandon the unethical practice of copying in the exam" when the entire education system is unethical !

@Bravo6ix, take note why Socialist and Communism-desiring societies make education free.

@Sharma Ji, you were disgusted by the killing of a dog in China but will you express disgust at the murder of humans by the Indian socio-economic system ?

@xeuss, this suicided girl, Bhavya, was a colleague of Indian Burqa Girl Muskan. Will Muskan take up the issue of Bhavya's tragic death, actually murder by the system, in the same passionate and angry way as she took up the frivolous issue of being allowed to wear burqa ? Or will Muskan find it too demanding to speak of Bhavya's suicide-murder because it is an issue that requires revolutionary change to India's political and socio-economic system and Muskan is currently not a light-year close to being a revolutionary and an intellectual ?

3 Coaching Students Allegedly Die By Suicide In Rajasthan's Kota

Known for coaching centres that provide preparatory classes for competitive engineering and medical examinations, Kota has in the past been plagued with suicide cases.

India News Reported by Harsha Kumari Singh, Edited by Akhil Kumar
Updated: December 12, 2022 7:40 pm IST

The students were 16, 17, and 18 years old.

Jaipur: Three students preparing for competitive exams in Rajasthan's Kota allegedly died by suicide today. The boys were 16, 17 and 18.

Two of the students, Ankush and Ujjwal, were friends from Bihar and were staying in rooms next to each other. One was preparing for his engineering college entrance, while the other was studying to crack the medical college entrance tests. No suicide notes have been found yet.

The third student, Pranav, came to Kota from Madhya Pradesh, and was preparing for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET -- a pre-medical entrance test.

Kota, the hub of private coaching centres that provide preparatory classes for competitive engineering and medical examinations, has seen an alarming number of deaths by suicide over the past few years. The deaths highlight the extreme pressure on young men and women to perform well and qualify for India's best colleges.

Students, including many who prepare for these competitive exams alongside their final two years in school, often complain about high stress.
The coaching hub is notorious for pushing students over the edge with long class hours, long assignments, and very competitive internal tests which determine whether a student is promoted or demoted among the many "batches". Top batches get the most sought-after teachers.

ALSO READ

In response to widespread media scrutiny of Kota's teen suicides and self-harm cases in the past, the administration had set up a suicide hotline where anxious students could seek counselling.

A student in 2016 had called for all coaching centres to be shuttered, before jumping to her death despite having cleared the highly coveted IIT-JEE exam.

In 2019, the Rajasthan government constituted a state-level committee to prepare a legislative draft for regulation of coaching centres to reduce stress among those studying at such institutes. There has been no public information on the draft yet.

LOL, Kota city administration started a helpline number as if a student pressured by his or her irrational and non-empathetic parents and the criminal coaching centers and the larger dog-eat-dog society in India, will call up the helpline and say "Good morning, I want to suicide, just wanted to hear your melliflous voices. Toodle-oo".

When that female student had called for all these criminal coaching centers to be shut down before she jumped to death why are these filthy institutions still operating six years later ? What is this nonsense in India about exam marks, college degrees and jobs ? What has India achieved in the last 75 years of existence with every parental generation pressuring their children into this unnecessary competition with fellow humans at every stage in life ? Neither India is a harmonious welfare-based society nor does India have a crewed research station on Mars present since 30 years. So why does Indian society continue to do regular human sacrifice at the altar of some or the other stupid university dean who will accept students only with entrance exam marks above 85 percent because he or she "doesn't want to spoil the university's reputation" by taking in college dropouts like Jamahir ( but what has that university given to humanity by having these grand exams every year ) ? Joe Shearer said this wonderful thing right in post# 2 :
The Phoenicians who settled in Carthage used to sacrifice their infants to Baal, in terrible mass sacrifices. We haven't progressed very much in 2,400 years.

One of the reasons why the brilliant Ben Zachariah was chased out of Presidency and finally landed up in Germany is because he wanted to give his students an open book exam, that they could answer at home, if they wanted.

There is a simple solution to this artificial tragedy of student suicide :

1. Make education free.
2. Build massively more schools and universities instead of religious structures, bullet trains and flyovers.
3. The above two points will abolish the current Indian system of "limited seats" in the universities for which students have to fight like dogs for a bone. So do the above and bring dignity to the students.
4. Eliminate the system of exams. Device a way to evaluate medicine knowledge and other things of the student.
5. Abolish the extremely Capitalist nature of Indian employment system for which the students currently and unnecessarily compete with each other at school and college level, years before getting into employment, and then show up at employment interviews not with their knowledge and project experience respected by the company's interviewers but the student's marks, with double priority given to students from "reputed universities" as if these universities have research stations on Mars and in India have devised revolutionary political, social and socio-economic systems. Secondly, abolish every company that is not truly contributing to humanity - Goldman Sachs, Infosys, TCS, Lockheed Martin etc.
6. Remove political power from the parents in the house so that they do not impose their irrational, unjust and non-contributory diktats on their children. The parents just inherited the stupidities of their own parents who did of theirs. Let this familial and societal stupidity and injustice not pass on. Abolish the dog-eat-dog Capitalist nature of India. Instead of imposing stupidity on their children the parents should have been in revolutionary agitation and they should have built a harmonious, rational, scientific, serene and non-competitive society to give to their parents. Yet what have the parents done ? Just to brag to their children's achievements in something that shouldn't exist to their neighbors, colleagues and relatives they pressure their children until the children suicide. This is not suicide but murder, by the parents and the society.

So once the above steps are done then no more student suicides will occur.

Its a feedback loop of sorts, we the people, via taxation, put money in government coffers.. and they put it to good use for the common good. To have secure transport befitting of the heads of state is money put to good use imo. If in the future the country elects a Raul Ghandy or even a Yechury, for example, they too will then deserve to be flown around in those planes and be afforded those 'luxuries'

but I already contribute, I pay my taxes and do not complain. Do you ?

@-=virus=-, so you paying the unnecessary taxes to the establishment duly hasn't prevented these three students from suiciding. What has Pragati Purush ( Man of Progress ) Modi jee done about students suicides in the last eight years of his PMship? The above very simple, rational and scientific steps I wrote, or doing nothing and simply legitimizing this illegitimate competition that doesn't yield any real thing by declaring "Exams are part of life" ? Watch below, and those girls... what a stupid, super cringe way they talk - from rote memory and force-fitted heavily Sanskritized Hindi  :

Sad, fuq do I or Modi Ji or anyone have to do with it but ?

Sad, fuq do I or Modi Ji or anyone have to do with it but ?

What do do mean what Modi jee has to do with it ? Is he not the prime minister of India ? Shouldn't he be every minute concerned if a citizen is happy or in misery ? So Mudi jee went to London in 2018, was sat in a packed part of the British parliament and was interviewed by Prasoon Joshi ( why was a Bollywood lyricist interviewing in London instead of a Britisher ? ) the below young Sikh man asked him in Sanskritized Hindi ( what kind of Sikh supports Hindutvadis and also speaks the flavor-of-the-decade Sanskritized Hindi ? ) "Modi jee, aap hain Bharatiya yuvaon ki dhadkan, din may bees bees ghantay kaam kartay hain, aur kabhi thaktay nahi hain, aap may itni oorja kahaan se aati hai ?" :

Now, when Modi jee works 20 hours a day and three Indian citizens suicided yesterday - and these three were the yuva ( youth ) whose dhadhkan ( heart beat ) Modi jee is supposed to be - isn't Modi meant to eliminate and abolish the reasons that made these three citizens suicide ? When that girl demanded in 2016 that those notorious coaching centers of Kota be shut down and then she jumped to her death, wasn't Modi jee supposed to act on her wish - she being a yuva ( youth ), an Indian citizen and a human, in addition to being a female who is supposedly supported by his "Beti bachao, beti padhao" programme ( Save the daughter, educate the daughter ) but here the beti, the daughter, wasn't bachao'ed but she was murdered by the system including her parents ? Modi jee remembers a battle from 351 years ago when the Hindu rajas of Rajputana and Assam supposedly waged a Dharam Yudh ( in the imagination of Modi jee and Amit jee ) and defeated the adharmi Mughals and Modi jee celebrated that event recently but this girl suicided in 2016, only six years ago, because of the anti-human Indian family system, education system and employment system but Modi jee doesn't remember her death ?

I wrote six simple, rational and scientific points in my previous post about how student suicides will be eliminated and Indian education will be made really educating. Why didn't Modi jee have such a solution and implement it when he became PM in 2014 ? He got a book written in 2007 grandly called Karmayog, expounding on various thoughts he has. But what did he say in it - not the simple six points of mine above but why the Dalits and the Shudras do work in the sewers - because they are ordained by God and so find divine, sublime "spiritual bliss" in working in the sewers.

This is the fellow much of the country made as the prime minister ??? Wah ray mera desh.

And since you support him you participate in the continuing cultural murder of these youth.

Oh dear, here we go again, yet again..

Will try to keep this as concise as possible.

This is a grim and tragic topic but here are the numbers:

8 lakh worldwide, dedh lakh India estimate hai.

Its the human condition, modern society.. call it what you will.

I don't want anyone to take their lives just as much as I don't want anyone to take another's life.

You think the filthy rich don't suicide ? I know personally of a couple families that had to bear the pain of someone offing themselves.. bad socio-economic situations are certainly not the only reason for it.

------------

I don't care if someone is a Dalit or Sudra, lower caste whatever... just no time for that type of thing. Just fun to needle Drizzt over here about the toilet thing, I clean my own toilet, no shame in it.. in fact our domestic help are expressly told to not do that. Also put their kids through school and help with food and are given the same generic gift boxes that go out to all the other family during Diwali for example, only with a cash bonus. They use the same kitchen and same veggies and bartans to cook for themselves many times too. Have never hurt anyone's sense of dignity over money matters.

-------------------------

About Modi ? well he is indeed a hard worker, and he has many admirers, so what ? Nobody is forcing you to vote for the BJP or buy Modi's book... keep pulling the lever for your local communist candidate or Raul Ghandy or whoever you fancy in your area when there are elections.

You, sir, have an extremely warped perception about the world in general and India in specific. Talk it out with a shrink sometime maybe.
