"India Was Such A Poor Place": Lewis Hamilton Questions New F1 Races

It is a pretty good track. If I remember correctly, Indian Govt refused to relax rules related to alcohol and tobacco advertising. And there were some entertainment tax related issues.
Yes and the other problem was that the circuit is was very far away from delhi, even noida for that matter, not that noida counts as a city. If it were closer to delhi im sure f1 would have continued there. Teams stay in the city for almost a whole week for a race weekend, during that time they had nothing to do in noida and commute was also very tedious. In delhi there is just so much more. Don't understand why it couldn't be close to IGI airport

Well to be fair, last time there were stray dogs running around the Indian racing circuit.

I think there was a plan to build one between Bombay and Pune as well.

Hamilton had come to Mumbai as well. Did a few donuts and such on the road in McLaren's F1 car (and also a Mercedes). I could experience the car from up close.

I love F1, but why would I go to a race unless I've a pass to the garage! Show offs go to the race, enthusiasts stay on the couch.

Prestige projects like Olympics, commonwealth games and of course f1, tend to become white elephants. Developing countries tend to regret the massive expenditure. The building companies make their money though. Hamilton is right to voice his opinion. Modi does not care.

Stop acting inferior. All he said is that F1 has no appetite in Hindustan. Also India should first concentrate on mass poverty before holding prestigious sporting events. He is just speaking his mind.

This is the mentality people have who gets used to living on doles.

Modi was not in power during the first or last F1 race.
