The Indian Air Force [IAF] recently issued a notice, seeking responders, to award a contract for the construction of a partially underground control station for its Air Defence units. To be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 7 Crores INR [~$1.23 million USD], the installation is expected to be up and ready in around 2 years. This notice in question had been issued for the construction of the facility at its Airbase at Leh, in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir, region that the Chinese claim as its own.

.
There are a good number of Underground and Semi underground structures at a number of prominent air bases controlled by IAF.
So Nothing new... soon most of the Airbases would have them.

.
What we need is hardened shelters for aircraft able to resist missile strikes.
