India Seeks to Escape an Asian Future Led by China

all the more reason to dismember india and put her out of her misery. india is the fifth columnist pandering to the greed of the former colonial powers, she has made up her mind to live with that slave mentality. india trying to stop China leading asia and the world is lying trying use a walking stick to stop a freight train running at full speed. it will only create an annoyance cuz the train will have to stop after running the poor bastard over. india needs to eliminated.

Hindu elites in India have and always will be......subservient subcontractors for "Anglo" interests since the fall of the Moghul empire. The west historically has only been challenged by East Asian and Muslim nations.......no surprise India today has the same thinking.

Modern Britain is a sad story. Never in human history has a hyper power empire fallen from such heights to such lows.

If China is “leading Asia”, an Asia growing faster then any other region of the world will naturally contain India (this should be the goal for BRI), and the Indian business community will try to get a share of that business.

The faster India’s competitors rise, the faster India will change its tune.

If Pakistan and China have great economic development near India’s border, Indian companies and suppliers and financiers will want to be a part of it. India’s demographic window is closing while Pakistan’s is still wide open.

Great Analysis. I completely agree with you.

As long as India has two enemies, which two are India's neighbors, other countries will be resistant to invest in India.

UK is not interested in importing anything of use from India, rather that it offers a market of 1.4 billion souls to UK. That's the primary focus since EU market won't give them any concessions.

True I forgot to mention that.

Not sure why India hates China so much.

Would be much better if India joined hands with China to lead Asia.

India does not seem to care for Asian or regional solidarity.
I dont think India hates China, thats a bit extreme, i think India is just cautious and cynical about somethings China or Chinese govt has done or said to or around India's neighbors, thats mainly it.

They may invest but they won’t be getting the full benefits, and will be pushing India to make nice with its neighbors to maximize their profits; two neighbors with some of the largest populations in the world and both with growing economies. In a world where most of those kinds of regions are well interlinked, our region is ripe for development if political differences can be resolved; the best examples being the gas pipelines from Iran and Turkmenistan through Pakistan to India. Politics are what have been getting in the way, not economics.

This is why a rail line from Pakistan to Central Asia needs to be built ASAP. If the cost of building the railways are a sunk cost, the operating cost of shipping by rail versus shipping by Ship or Air between India and Russia are calculated for certain perishable items (such as organic food, Russians and Indians don’t like GMOs), it could be more profitable to ship by rail then any other means. Especially if you factor in all the effort India is going to build 6 dedicated freight corridors; connecting with neighbors by land makes a lot of sense if the politics can be addressed. If India has good relations with Myanmar it could ship products to ASEAN from interior regions of India more quickly. Sure, shipping by sea would be more cost effective for many items but not all, and with all the investment into rail (by India and by the ASEAN countries expected over the next 10 years), it might be cheaper to ship by rail then by sea.

agreed. no investor wants to invest in a country that has two big nuclear power enemies breathing down its neck and that too, right on its borders.

India always seek to serve its western masters. They pursue policy for the approval of its masters as a household slave. That is why it always subservient to its masters want and need. If you look at India as a household slave, everything they do make sense.

India hates China because of envy and jealously. In the last 2 decades, the world saw China's economy grew larger, military got stronger, and influences spread farther. Mean while delusional Indians kept saying India superpower 2020.

That is not the reason per my Indian friends here.....China attacked India in 1962 backstabbing the cordial brotherly relationship... since than China has been putting down/opposing India in world's stages whether issue of terrorism, Indian getting any trade benefit from West, getting India a higher seat etc...It is recently that India has started opposing Chinese policy of intimidation, openly.

Citing this, some other Asian countries who have been bullied by China since decades such as Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia etc have started raising their voices against China's hegemonic designs and aspirations.

2 tigers don't shared the same mountain. Lol

China and India used to be at same development stage. Most unacceptable thing is not some people are richer than you. It is your once samely poor buddy suddenly becomes much richer than you.
Lol Agree, I think there's that as well. 😅

Imperial Japan also said they wanted to leave Asia and join Europe 脱亚入欧.

Congratulations, India is as powerful as Imperial Japan with an equal future.
Don't overstate things. It was more like abandoning the old ways(i.e a closed society with ancient Asian values, which led to Japan and much of Asia falling far behind the West) and learning from Europe. That proved to be the right choice since it led to the meiji restoration and enabled Japan to rise to be the first Asian country to industrialised and be a developed country (first Asian country as well) and be able to go head to head/sit with Western powers during the 19th-20th century .
Had Japan maintain its old ways like China did, then they too would have fallen far behind and remain a poor destitute peasant backward nation suffering from western powers inavasions/colonisation/encroachment/humiliations like China back then which the country is just recovering from just recently this day and age. So if anything you should be saying China should have done the same as Japan much earlier.

You were factually wrong multiple times before and are not a subject matter expert. You don't have very high credibility.

Such comparison is not fair to Japan, unlike India, Japan has achieved each of its conceived national goal .Back in 18th century it felt existential crisis before impending western invasion so they decisively executed a plan to industrialize and did so with great success leaving a precedent, after ww2, Japan's sole pursuit was to achieve similar lvl of development to the western industrialized nations, and they more than achieved that by not just achieving similar lvl of industrialization & development but surpassed.
Japan is exceptional in its relentless pursuit of a national goal .
Having achieved their goal of matching the western industrialized nations in development, right now,Japan doesn't have any goals and feels lost,it's still in the process of planning a blueprint for their next national goal to strive for.
