(MENAFN - Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): India on Monday said it would like to pursue more joint projects with China in war-torn Afghanistan as the first batch of 10 Afghan diplomats being jointly trained by both countries started their training programme in New Delhi, according to a media report.

The Afghan diplomats, who underwent training in New Delhi from October 15-26, began a 10-day training stint at the China Foreign Affairs University on Monday, The Economic Times said.

This is the first joint programme being undertaken in Afghanistan by India and China. It was part of an understanding at the informal summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping held in April in China's Wuhan city.

For China, which shares a border with Afghanistan, this is a rare initiative as it closely coordinates its Afghan policy with Pakistan. Kabul has been accusing Islamabad of backing the Taliban's frequent violent attacks destabilising the country.

Addressing the inaugural session of the China training programme, India's Deputy Ambassador in Beijing, Acquino Vimal said "We are hopeful that in the months to come we will be able to identify more specific projects which can be jointly done by the government of India and government of China for the benefit of Afghanistan as desired by the government and people of Afghanistan".

Vimal said India, which is committed to Afghanistan's efforts to emerge as a united, peaceful, secure, stable, inclusive and economically vibrant nation, has committed USD 3 billion for its development in the last 17 years.

"India and Afghanistan are close neighbours as well as strategic and development partners. All efforts of India as a development partner of Afghanistan have been based on the priorities set by the government and people of Afghanistan. This has been our fundamental basis for any development partnership," an Indian Embassy press release quoted him as saying.

India's development programmes in Afghanistan focus particularly in the areas of building infrastructure, development of human resources, enhancing connectivity and promoting trade and investment links, he said.

Most of these major development projects have been completed over the years," he said.

Since 2017, the next generation of new development partnership has been launched in Afghanistan through high impact community development projects in all the provinces of Afghanistan, he said.

"I am happy to inform that through our scholarship and training programme, more than 3,500 Afghan diplomats are being trained in India every year," he said.

Post USA, India knows she will be molested in Afghanistan and now she wants to be friends with its enemy who she is sharpening her teeth to fight in "chicken's neck". Typical Indian brain, typical Indian approach towards friends and enemies.

But in Afghanistan, India is dealing with more fractions than China - and she shouldn't expect her dating with China will give her an additional day of life.

USA is not leaving Afghanistan for another 50 years to come, unless Russian relations with US improves. The cradle to US and Russia salvation lies in Afghanistan and US will not miss the opportunity to over see a tract of land which effectively combines central asia, middle east and Russia. So the Pakistani dream of US leaving Afghanistan is cuts no ice with any strategic thinker having practical knowledge of geo-politics.

Having said that no one is uncertain about future and India will continue to be in Afghanistan, while Pakistanis cry a river.

No matter what dehati aurat does in the r;);)m...oops. .(Afghanistan) with who ever, Pakistan holds the wild cards of this room...oops...Afghanistan. After all world says this, indirectly of course.:D

There is a visible contradiction in your (countrymen's) understanding. Consider following;
  1. Presence of China in Afghanistan itself means USA is losing ground in Afghanistan.
  2. India' willingness to work with China (not China's willingness to work with India) itself means India on its own is feeling insecure.
  3. USA is on the table with Taliban hoping to cut a deal - not a sign of 50 years of planning.
  4. Taliban are gaining strength in Afghanistan, China holding its ground, USA is destroying its relationships with Pakistan - so what do you think is about to happen to USA and its designs in Afghanistan? And finally,
  5. What future do you think India is left to do in the equation mentioned in point #4?
I haven't mentioned Pakistan's strengths and Pakistan's enmity towards India as yet - But if you want to keep dreaming about 50 years of living under USA there - then keep dreaming and you better keep dreaming as reality will give you nightmares anyway.

This is not alone my understanding. This is the understanding of scholars who are actively involved in this. And your arguments here are on the fly to be at best and your judgment supports your own wishes and changes little on the table.

From the above article.
Against that backdrop, U.S. officials fear that the Kremlin’s intervention may complicate if not damage the effort to foster peace talks by giving the militants new avenues of support, thus reducing their incentive to cut a deal.

“If it’s 10 Kalashnikovs or 10,000, the message is: ‘We’re still involved. We still matter,’ ” a former U.S. official said.

There are numerous other articles which directly suggest that US will stay. Almost likely for the reasons you have mentioned above. And it doesnt want to see itself as a politically loosing party and will bet on its military might and intelligence to create turmoil and keep the country boil at the right temperature ( A repeat of Zia's policy?).
The reason why ISIS has surfaced directly points out to the fact that US will always find other means.

Russia is still a very nascent player in this game and has come off late to the party, departing from the policy of supporting NA. China is just piggybacking on Russian drive and Pakistani influence to cut a business deal under the carpet. India too is doing the same but India was early to this understanding long back.

If you havent thought about what I am saying and still want to live in your conclusions. I am nobody to stop you or suggest you otherwise. But sooner or later you will come to terms.

LOL on you and "Scholars". Go check reality as of last week. Sometimes it's best to take a little reality check before you go to sleep again - but its just an optional advice. It may be unrelated to you.

Lol these scholars sitting in high places actually form policies and you and I dont. And they do it looking at the ground reality. And please dont assuage yourself that you or your country are the only one who has access to ground reality. Every stake holder does (some more some less).

Anyway. you brought up India and I was answering. Otherwise we both will go sleep again with our own reality checks anyway.

How to work together?
India provides money, China provides technology ?
Is there a specific plan?
China provides security and planning for construction and development and 80% of money. India provides cheap labour.
