India: Saudi to deport stadium blast accused next week

As a sign of growing cooperation on terrorism, Saudi Arabia is slated to deport Chinnaswamy stadium blast accused Fasih Mehmood to India next week on the basis of an Interpol red corner notice. Mehmood, 29, an engineer, was arrested by Saudi Arabia police from Jubail on May 13.

Government sources said the process for deportation of Mehmood — a key aide of Indian Mujahideen terrorist Riyaz Bhatkal — was started by Karnataka police on May 25 and a non-bailable warrant was obtained for the accused. The Karnataka police has now asked the CBI to move the Interpol for a red corner notice on the basis of the warrant.

“The process has been initiated and Mehmood is expected to be deported to India next week,” said a senior official.

Resident of Barsmela village of Bihar’s Darbhanga district, Mehmood came in touch with IM founders Riyaz and Iqbal while studying at Anjuman Engineering College, Bhatkal, during 2000-2004.

Mehmood went to work in Saudi Arabia in 2007 and visited India five times.

Mehmood is believed to have sheltered key IM operative Yasin Bhatkal while he was on the run after the 2008 Batla House encounter. He also helped Yasin set up an IM module in north Bihar.

Mehmood’s name cropped up during interrogation of Kafeel Akhtar, an IM operative, who was arrested from Bihar last November. Kafeel said Mehmood and Yasin were involved in the Chinnaswamy stadium blast.

The intelligence agencies then located Mehmood in Saudi Arabia and informed the authorities there, who detained him.

While Mehmood’s wife had written to Home Minister P Chidambaram this month fearing that her husband was being illegally detained in India, the fact is that Saudi authorities are waiting for a red corner notice to deport him to India.

. . . . . . .
According to may people here Saudi Arabia supports terrorism... What happened :O

Many, you know where, would not see any blast or innocents being killed in "India" as an act of terrorism..

Also Send over Dawood and Hafeez when they come for Haj.
No! We don't want them. As it is we've spent more than $5 million (Rs 25 Crores) on Ajmal Kasab which could have been better spent elsewhere. In addition to these two honchos you mentioned, the bill could reach a staggering Rs 100 Crores! And hey, that money is partly mine being an honest taxpayer!

These buggers should just be shot and lowered into the Marianas Trench in the Pacific Ocean. No, seriously.
:pop:

I remember when first this story came out do you guys remember the headlines??

"Poor Indian engineers taken prisoner by evil Saudi Arabia" "His wife doesn't know where he is oh poor engineer" "Evil Saudis took the poor Indian engineer without justification" "They just came in and took his laptop anodyne his phone and locked his wife in a room"

You guys remember how the media made it out to be?? And yet you people criticize me when I say my country is being attacked by all the world media and defamed for no reason.

The Indian media is vicious. Don't take it personally if they are over the top towards your country, they do that to everyone and everything.

So if a Interpol red corner notice is issued, should every country abide by it???

That's the assumption of many pakistanis not Indians.

What some can claim is the support of wahabis/salafis nothing else.

That also can not be further from the truth by the way. In our own country we are trying to decrease the stranglehold the ultra conservatives have on our own country. For example we are slowly injecting civil Liberaties into our own society most recently women will be joining the national guard as full combatant soldiers next year.

These stuff take generations to manifest to be permanent if you force change it will back fire big time. I can bring many examples from history about this. So regarding all this how in hell are we supporting something we are fighting against?? Really somethings just don't make any sense but then again the mental capacity of many in this forum is limited. I don't blame them read too much religion and you will end up an idiot too.

True, eventhough I cannot understand many things thats practiced in your country like barring women from driving but as the saying goes slow and steady wins the race. Shah of Iran tried to modernize his country in one shot and in the end got deposed.
